Speaking of color......has anyone seen what color schemes the GT350 will have? If not, any speculations?

The GT350 reveal at Shelby in Gardena last week was a White w/Blue stripes unit. But this one looks great too!

The stock GT350 is NOT going to beat the stock Z/28. All other things considered it doesn't have the R Comp tires to match it. With the same R Comp tires it should be a drivers race. The GT350R will be the Z/28 killer but at $10K more and similar pricing as the Z.

It might beat the Z28 if it doesn't get hot after 3 to 4 laps in the summer. :) In fact I think it will beat the Z28 IF it comes in as light as it has been rumored and Ford is finally putting on tires and rim widths to match the performance potential. One can hope.

I don't think the 'special for Ford' 305/295 Super Sports will be up to the task unless wildly better than the original PSS. I think in reality, beating the stock Z/28 will be just a tire swap away.

No I am going to be very patient this time and let everyone else sort out the bugs before I commit. Really. I mean it.

While I'm excited about the GT350, my fervor is blunted by other new more capable domestic supercars. The new Z06, with 650/650 hp/torque, and the new Viper TA (really a mid engine vehicle with the front axel well afront the engine) are simply sublime. I'm not saying it isn't astounding, especially with the flat crank. I'm just happy with my cheaper more basic but still crazy fun car, I can beat to death on the track. Cars like the GT350, Z28, etc, are not for me. Magnetic shocks, ceramic brakes, blah, blah, blah. I was willing to pay a premium for my Boss, among other things, for historic and cool factors.

Having said that, I am very excited about the new s550. While I'm not crazy about the looks, the new suspension, tuned up should be a step up from my current track beast. I could see modding elements from the GT350 to a bare bones Torsen equipped GT with brakes, slicks, shocks, springs, roll bar . . . That's what I want to see, captivatingly waiting to see some arise from the sea of mundane.

Here's the thing for me. If you are not really RACING and just doing HPDE the driver is the biggest difference. I have been passed by Miatas and passed ZL1's and Vipers.

Real racing is a different animal imho.

While the new Z06 is cool and the new Z28 is cool as well the Viper TA how many of us really want to put a $75K+ car on the track and beat the snot out of it? Track insurance at those levels become very expensive. Twice what it costs to insure my Boss for the weekend.

Will likely work with Cortex in improving the track capability of my Boss including a diet plan for the car and safety aspects like Crow harnesses from Cool Tech, Watsons new 6 point roll bar with side impact protection and work on my driving skills. Kooks headers, CAI and tune should be all I need for power additives.

In the end the question comes down to how much money do you want to spend just to have some fun 3-4 weekends a year (for me at least) if HPDE's is all you are doing.

If I bought a Z06, Viper TA or new GT350 it would be for the up to date cool factor for cruise nights...but already have enough cool cruise night cars. Actually the Boss with all my mods should also be cool for cruise nights come to think of it!!! ;D

I love the specs on this car, but I have too much invested in the Boss at this point. And while I can appreciate new technology nothing beats seat time and working on your skills. I've learned a lot from my racing mentor ArizonaBoss on our local tracks by watching his videos and driving his lines and brake zones and its paid off. I gained almost 5 seconds this past weekend and reviewing my data I know where I can gain more time. I've watched Drew take down a lot better equipped cars because he just out drives them and that's what I'm learning to do with my Boss!

Bingo!

Remember ...Old School is cool.

Besides working on your driving skills and getting the point by from someone in a new GT350 will be very gratifying. !!! ;D

Thought you might get a kick out of this YouTube vid on Hellcat vs. GT350 vs. Z28

Somewhat apropos to the subject.

Admittedly, I do not own a Boss, just a '13 GT, but the only reason I haven't already traded for an s550 PP is the hope that the GT350 will be in my price range. If it stickers at or below $55K, I will own one. And I recently said I'd never pay that kind of money for a mustang. That's how bad I want one

No to OP.
Two years from now.
Maybe even next year.
The GT will be faster than the Boss around your favorite track.
Heck, in five years the Camry will probably beat it.
You can always wait a year or two to get something faster.
Some people bought their Boss as a fashion statement.
Some people didn't.
The fashionable ones will trade their Boss.
The rest of us won't. It is the last, and best, of its kind.

No additional power for the GT350R. Just 130 lbs weight reduction, better aero, and better tires. It's not even apparent if the suspension is different (I think they're referring to it vs the regular Mustang in the article).

Rather than bump the GT350’s power, Ford aggressively tuned the R for more downforce and lighter weight. Though street-legal, the R model is aimed at track use.

It sheds an additional 130 pounds from the GT350 Track Pack model by throwing out the rear seats, air conditioning, stereo and interior trim pieces (these bits can be added back on if desired).

Ford also used carbon fiber wheels, which the automaker says shaves 13 pounds each.

The body has been re-thought to allow better cooling and increased grip. Thus, the various vents, diffusers and a large carbon fiber rear wing are all aimed at keeping rubber on road, no matter the speed.

The heart of the GT350 carries over to the new R model. This means an all-new 5.2-liter V-8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft (a powerful race-friendly design Ferrari uses in its road cars) makes “more than” 500 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

A six-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential and a thoroughly revised suspension system are all standard.

Ford will put the GT350R on sale later this year in the U.S. and Canada. But don’t expect to see many on the road; the automaker expects to sell around 1,000 of the cars over the next three to four years.
