I love the the factory stance of these new GT350s'. And I too really hate the massive logo on these pics. They must have issues over there at Car & Driver.

The Marketing group over at Ford are masters of the new car Launch and roll out. Great job, great car.

I think its for aero and to help stabilize the car at high speed. Seems to be the extreme for just a third bake light. But thats just my thoughts.

My thoughts too. :)

The inside edges 'mirror' the typical outside edges of the roof line that generate two 'big' vortices that spin down the back window. The edges create two opposite rotating vortices in between the two typical ones, for a total of 4 counter-rotating vortices. This increases the attached flow on the back window which reduces drag and helps increase the flow over relatively low downstream spoilers.

If equipped, the sat antenna will add two more smaller vortices in between those 4.

Actually, I think it's not so much as an indentation as it is two bulges for additional head room. Through the years, other cars have this feature as well.

In thinking about rigidity and roll over, strength comes from the inner cockpit rings and not the exterior sheet metal.

As for aero, my opinion, (with all due respect), is that no appreciable vortices, especially, counter rotating vortices are created but this design as they are not directional. You would need several opposing vortex generators to accomplish this. Sorry Grant, have to disagree with this theory. I don't think it's that complicated, it just additional head room for 6'2" plus drivers. Remember these cars are just like the rest and will have to pass all of the compliance regs a mass marketer has for the general public.

One thing for sure, a power sunroof option is off the option list.

No disrespect taken or intended. :) Actually, my answer is "all of the above" for reasons to put them in, as I believe all reasons posted so far are true or correct. I think double-bubble roofs were added on other production cars to mimic race car functional styling which caused the least added drag for tall driver clearance. Structurally, the panel will be lots stiffer, though not in a roll-over sense like previously suggested.

But back to my theory for vortex generation, it's from knowing that the separation bubble at the rear window draw the flow lines over the roof inward. I don't have a picture of it without the VG's but the angle without them is more severe than the angles in the pic above. So (I think) this creates a relative angle of attack and that the air 'spilling' over the inside of the ledge does so progressively like the air spilling over the B pillar/sail panels that create the two typical outer vortices from fastbacks. I'll know for sure once I can do some water droplet testing on a '15+
