Yes, You surely must be be special..I got my recall heads up about this last year ( waiting for parts) and haven't heard a thing since. Due to circumstances beyond my control, my airbag engaged before I received this notice......maybe I'm good to go now?...or maybe another defective airbag has been re-installed?????....I hear MANY car companies are involved with this now.

FYI there are 2 recalls with mustang air bags
14B09 dealing with 2005-2006 mustangs
15s21 dealing with 2005-2014 mustangs
NOTE: Some vehicles included in 15S21 are also included in 14B09. The repair parts for 15S21 have not yet been developed and will be the subject of a future announcement.
 Vehicles that are currently open in 14B09 and 15S21 – Dealers should replace the driver airbag inflator under 14B09.
 Vehicles that are open in 15S21 – Repairs will be the subject of a future announcement. New! CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of record will be notified via first-class mail the week of July 13, 2015 that parts are not currently available under 15S21. Customers will be re-notified after repair instructions and parts ordering information are provided to dealers.

As of today I ran my 2013 VIN and looked up the recall and there is no news, still waiting on parts for recall 15s21. I would double, triple check with your service department that they aren't trying to use the 05-06 parts in your later mustang.

Mine being an early '12,but still surprised and happy.I did confirm and Boss-Tang goes in tomorrow at noon.we are still waiting on my son's Matrix as well.

Well I 'm pissed. After I phoned yesterday to confim the job, dragging my wife in her car , a 1/4 tank of gas and 1 hour driving time in pouring rain..Im booked in, signed the paperwork. The idiot laughs and says there are no airbags! They even told me, yes, it's 3 hours. Those same dummies at Mainland Ford got me again. The manager had the balls to say"hey car looks nice, maybe we can test drive it"And service dept.has a big laugh on me.These same guys that repeatedly botched my tranny swaps(3 times!)I thought this deal sounded strange, thats why I called back. She said the warrantee airbag job is a go.I have had 2 letters about this in the last few months. They said today it was just a phone update.Friggin idiots, and my wife is pissed too.
and they had the balls to lie to me, covering up for the dummy that I talked to!

You should have everything documented and then contact FORD directly and complain. Don't let up and tell them how much you have been mistreated by the dealership. Be nice, calm, and unrelenting. Then find another dealership. My .02

Ford released an update today. They are starting to distribute parts for 05-12 mustangs, and will be sending out letters in the mail. Us 2013-2014 mustang owners still have to wait, parts are coming 4th quarter of 2016

Is their anyway I can turn off this "killer" airbag without turning on any maintenance lights? The next big question is can I replace the airbag myself and give them back the old one so they don't touch my car with hammers and crow bars?

No, you should not disable your air bag, and no the Authorized Ford Dealer will have to install your air bag under a WRO.

OBTW, The Takata airbag recall got worse this week as it was expanded for another 35M units. Total airbags now effected exceeds 60M units. Source: http://blog.caranddriver.com/massive-takata-airbag-recall-everything-you-need-to-know-including-full-list-of-affected-vehicles/

Thanks for the air bag update. There must be one hell of a lot of air bags to be replaced.

I can't see how the producer can survive the recall?

This will be in the Billion's IF all are replaced.

Expect a slow response ....and slower as this progresses.

Still, I believe you are better off taking a risk With the air bag functioning if needed than having it disabled.

I know my daughter walked away from her crash because of airbags. T-boned and pushed into on coming traffic. Totaled her Mustang and she had superficial bruising. Had I disabled the system I may be without a daughter today.

Your call.

Got letter from Ford national stating dealer now had part for 15S21 recall for my 2012 Boss. Called World Ford dealership in Pensacola and they claimed no part available yet with no ETA. I called national with number on the availability letter. They checked and stated that all Florida dealers had received the parts. They then called World Ford directly while keeping me on the line. All of a sudden World Ford service admitted to having the part and made service apt for me on Monday to do the recall work. World Ford Pensacola then apologized saying they did not know who I talked to when I called in but maybe the parts were not in her system yet having arrived just recently. Once again pays to talk to National even though dealerships are self run.

I just got a letter saying something to the effect of design of parts near completion. Part availability will be late 4th quarter 2016.
