TMO At The First GT350 Track Attack!

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

This is for updates from the first GT350 Track Attack and to share info for those that are attending. We're less than two weeks away. In case the others were wondering a few of us have been chatting offline and we are bringing our helmets and Hans to the event.

Stilo will definitely be in tow. Very excited!

just picked up an ST5. nice piece of kit. my son gets the hand-me-down si12 for the TA.

We'll bring HANS devices as well and I'll bring the rest of my kit (shoes, gloves, bala, suit).

Fair warning that my driving suit is not 'low-key' ;-)

I picked up two of them (Scott Sharp's and David Brabham's from their 2010 ALMS campaign) at a charity auction a few years ago. Scott's fit me pretty well and I sold off David's. I ended up with a killer Stand21 suit for $350! but it's pretty obnoxious ;-)

I wonder if Scott was wearing this suit in his terrible wreck at the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta?

I'm looking forward to being back in Tooele, driving that awesome track, meeting you guys, and getting my son on track for the first time too. (and hitting the Red Iguana for some killer Mex...in SLC of all places ;-)
I haven't been on track for over two years now (expect for the track tour...which hardly counts) and that was in a pretty different beast - a Radical SR3 RS.

A little spin-avoidance:

And some lapping at Spring Mountain:

In the last two years, all of my seat time has been in rally cars so I'll have to re-program a bit...and I'm definitely looking forward to it!

Doesn't get much better than a day at Track Attack followed by Red Iguana.... Have fun, gents!! You've all earned it -- literally (Shelby purchase) and figuratively (BMO/TMO contributions). I'll be anxiously awaiting reports, pics and videos from Day 2 in the BOSSes....

Thanks looking forward to it! If this wasn't going to be my first track day in the GT350 I'd say I am more excited about Day 2 in the Boss race car. It's the 302S I never quite built :) Both cars will be an absolute blast for sure.

I wish you were joining us. I'm looking more forward to driving the 302S since I've never driven one.

Im looking forward to this too. I haven't been on track much lately but looking forward to getting rolling again. See everyone in a little over a week.

It's been six months for me so I'm also looking forward to it.

A few logistic items for those attending. I just got off the phone with Bill Rhinehart for last minute details on the event. No major news but in case you were wondering.

The reception/dinner is at 6:00 PM on Sunday evening and they'd like us there by 5:45 for check in. I asked if there was anything going on at the track for us to watch if we arrive early and there is not. If you have not been to the track before you are welcome to arrive around 5:00 and drive around the complex (not the track) and check out the facilities. Larry H. Miller built a spectacular facility and there is a lot to see. Drive up to the security gate and tell them you are attending the GT350 Track Attack reception and they will let you in. Just confirming again that the museum is no longer at the facility but they might have a couple of surprises for us to check out at the dinner.

On Monday morning you can arrive as early as 7:30 for check in and to get your gear setup. I suspect it will be very similar to BTA if you attended that event. That's about it.

The weather looks nice for this time of year but it will still be chilly in the AM. I light coat will be in order. Let me know if you have any questions.

For those that are staying in SLC we can meet up for dinner on Monday evening. Post your suggestions in this thread. The Red Iguana has already been suggested and I never say no to Mexican food. ;D

For those not attending but want updates make sure you subscribe to this thread. I'll be posting photos and videos from the event on both Monday and Tuesday.

May I offer the suggestion that if possible you arrive a couple hours prior to the dinner and enjoy UMC's great karting tracks on-site? Good way to get primed for the Track Attack and also generate some bench-racing at dinner or over drinks later :)

Great idea but it's still a bit early in their season for them and the facility will be quiet this Sunday. There is a kart race on Saturday though. After Monday @Thunderhill I'm well primed for next week. :p

Everyone packed and ready to go?

We are indeed! One question - I see folks are bringing their own Stilo's. The program admin I spoke with said that the program is providing helmets w/an intercom system. If the intercom is compatible with Stilo, we'll definitely bring our own helmets...

Does anyone know if the schools helmets are halo compatible?

Also if you bring your own helmet can you carry it on the plane with your carry on bag?

I am getting packed but still trying to decide what to bring.

You can carry it on as a "personal item" and still have a roller bag.
