Anyone else going to Indy for the Mustang Club of America 40th Anniversary Celebration? I will be out there on track for all 3 days. Running the Grand Prix/Moto GP road course, very few trackdays at Indy, so I am taking the opportunity to drive on another of the world's historic race tracks. Hope some of you are also coming.

That looks like fun. If only it was 1,500 miles closer...

Less than a week away... What group did everyone wind up in? I was put in group B for Friday.

Also, in case anyone didn't read the fine print or missed it with the MCA's multiple emails from strange email addresses, you must pick up your registration packet the day PRIOR to your first day on track. According to the schedule, registration packet pick up is only open at the Speedway from noon to 5 pm on Wednesday and 8 am to 5 pm on Thursday and Friday. I've inquired regarding a) if we can pick up packets anywhere else after 5 pm (i.e., the host hotel) and b) if we can have others pick up our packets on our behalf if we can't get there by 5 pm; will let everyone know what the organizers come back with.

With the mandatory driver's mtg from 8 to 845, you'd be hard-pressed to get back outside the Speedway to get your registration packet and then back inside before the run groups start at 9... Not even sure you'd be able to get into the Speedway without your packet anyway?? Even if you could, they're saying if you leave the paddock in your track car during the day after you've gone through tech, you're done for that day.

The way they do registration for the big MCA events is kinda crazy. At Charlotte we went through the same thing. Best advice if you are on track Friday is to get there on Thursday before 4 pm. It will be mobbed because they do all types of registration (car show, track) off of the same lines in and Friday will be mobbed. I am on track all 3 days and plan on getting there by 2pm on Wednesday. Also if you are trailering make sure to ask for trailer credentials when you pick up your packet, at Charlotte I didn't get them because it wasn't listed during registration and you had to request by email etc. This year I confirmed with them, hopefully that won't be a hassle. This really is an EVENT, the open track is considered a side show to the main event and it won't be like any HPDE event you go to normally. Try and relax and roll with it and you will have a great time. Remember to look for the 21 car in the garages and come say hello.

I didn't sign up for the track but probably stop by if I got time.

I was there last weekend with the Porsche club and that place is phenomenal.
The feeling you get when you drive up Gasoline Alley to get in the pit lane is pretty cool.

For those that does the 3 days I would suggest that you bring an extra set of front pads and brake fluid. That track is pretty tuff on brakes.
I heard somebody says that it's 2 dragstrip followed by 2 autocross.

Bringing 3 sets of tires and 3 sets of pads to do 3 days at Indy and 2 days at the Glen from 9/1-9/6. That plus 3000 vintage Mustangs and an Indycar race, racer Heaven.

Wow awesome.

I recall I saw somewhere that the speed are going to be limited? Is it true?
If yes that would suck. My top speed was 149mph on the main straight and 135mph on the back one.

Yes MCA has group speed limits. Nick (Black Boss) and I are in A group which is 135, I don't follow speed limits on the road so chances of me following them on track are about the same, Group B is 120, Group C is 100 and novices in D are at 80 mph. We had similar restrictions at Charlotte 50th and it was fine, When you are on track with Jack Roush Jr, Ken Block and a dozen other Pro/Am racers it speeds up quickly. We were doing 135 in the rain at Charlotte!
Nice video of your lap.
Steve

You should be fine. You'll probably be 10-15mph faster on the main straight.

Only a couple of the high horse power car (modded GTR) were able to reach 160mph.

Thanks you. I'm still learning how to drive the slicks. It was my first time with them.
I think a 1.40 lap would have been possible.
