New GT350 owner...excited, but a bitter sweet day

What should have been a very funtastic day turned bitter sweet. The sweet part is I found a semi local dealer selling two 2016s at MSRP and they would honor my trade in value from the Atlanta dealership. First time seeing the yellow in person and I really liked it. That was the sweet. The bitter...was 30 miles down the highway in the GT350 and a driver was pointing that something was wrong...the chin spoiler had somehow dropped and was scraping on the pavement. As I pulled over with the windows down I could finally hear it. Had to be dragging for a while but couldn't hear it or feel it. As we reached the side of the road I saw pieces fly off. Good news is it doesn't look like the car or paint took any damage. Not sure if the bumper clip locations are damaged. Not even sure how it attaches. Luckily there was a Lowes at the exit where I could get a star tool to remove what was left of the spoiler. You can see by the pic it was sheared off. We did not hit any bumps or debris on the highway. I have some hypothesis of what might have happened. I noticed in the pics on the dealer website that there was no stripes on the bumper but the pics the sales guy sent me had the stripes. I asked if there was damage on delivery as I know they are supposed to disclose this or did Ford forget the stripes. They said Ford forgot and they put them on. Not sure if the chin spoiler had to be removed to tuck the stripe under. If so, it's possible the clips were damaged or not properly reattached. These are just my best guesses at this point. I assume there are clips to help attach this. I am sad and angry. Sad mostly. Also sad because I loved my Boss...maybe she sabotaged the spoiler when they were parked next to each other...hmmmmm...trying to remain positive...226d8682d6e274461ee1f21e05cad664.jpg63f3901b41967ece159aca41b594be6f.jpgae62fee81e6861b0ab513b83f064fb11.jpg6b77d68005c8799a9a2e47a739d8c610.jpg

Welcome back. That just sucks. They clearly removed it and did not reinstall it properly. The dealer should make this up to you. Frankly the way the splitter is designed to be installed is poor. If Ford has a design that the dealers can't consistently install properl you have to ask why it's designed that way. Good luck with the repairs and once you get past this you'll appreciate what a truly fantastic car it is.

Thanks...I lost track of this forum after the web address change. It wasn't letting me log in. But I tried it am back. So far they told me there was no damage. They would have to disclose it. Will see if they had to remove the spoiler for the stripes or another reason. I think they are going to do right and fix it all. Just hope the bumper doesn't need replacing. I called them while I was still in a state of panic. Their sales manager called me from home and reassured me that they will take care of me. They had a new 5.0 to lend me when I was going to bring the car back...unfortunately the highway back was closed to a flipped semi with 2-HR delay, so I had to drive it home. Sucks cause the dealership is 2-hrs from my house. We were already almost halfway home when this happened.

Not sure what else they can do besides fix it. They are closed Sunday's and I fly out for business Monday. Nice thing is they agreed to send two guys Monday to pick her up...

Just sucks, I feel like I lost the "bringing home my new baby" excitement.

Glad to be back on the Forum...just need to figure out how to change my name from Darth Boss to Darth Cobra [emoji12]

I do not believe that ford "forgot" to apply the bumper stripes! Really?
Stevie wonder could see that.

They forgot many a side stripe on the 302s. Would t make sense for a dealership who repaired damage to put an incomplete car on the showroom and take pictures too...paint looks spot on, no orange peel. So I can only assume they are honest.

The two 350's that came to my local dealership didn't come with the splitters installed. The service department had to install them and I also think there were some plastic spacers they removed from the springs. Maybe to raise the car up for transport? That may have only been for the "R" though. Not sure?

I found the Ford installation video...if dealers don't use the right clips, attach the 6-8 fasteners, some at 45 degrees and torqued, and most importantly if the clip points aren't engaged properly...doing 70 MPH down the highway can pop it out and the downforce does the rest...same thing happened to another owner on a Facebook forum I'm on.

Glad you found the install video. There were a number of improperly installed splitters when dealers were just "winging" it. The video is pretty clear and they shouldn't have any trouble getting it installed correctly this time. Congrats on the new car and enjoy!

Congrats and welcome to the yellow club :)

Sorry for the problems but hopefully they will all soon be in the rear view mirror.

Thanks kona302. The dealer picked her up this morning. So far been very professional about it all. I hope they have it done by this Friday, including a couple of tiny paint chips. I'll be pulling over after a few miles down the highway this time to check everything out. [emoji6]

Good to see the dealer taking responsibility for their error. Nice choice in color on the former Boss also! ;)

Thanks. Grabber Blue is my favorite color of all time. I couldn't find anyone willing to sell a 17 Model at MSRP...at least in driving distance. That was the hard part, could I get past not having my favorite color? Grabber Blue would have been nice but I'm digging the yellow. Had a 65 GTO back in college I painted bright yellow, not this bright but close.
