Very nice looking cars, everyone! I'm looking forward to contributing some pics of my own once I find the right car. As someone stated in one of the earlier posts, it definitely seems more people are tracking their 2012 and not so much the 2013. Also seems that almost everyone has upgraded to the Tiger Racing hood and has either the Watson or Cool Tech roll bar.

Are these cars, specifically the 2012 Boss 302, known to overheat on track with the stock hood? For those not running a roll bar and harness, are you guys using anything with your stock 3-pt seat belts for added robustness? I definitely do not want a harness bar, but would like to mitigate sliding around in the seat when using the stock belt on the track.

There were overheating issues with the 2012 but it was the grille not letting enough air through the radiator. The Tiger Racing hood is for aero and has minimal effect on cooling.

Got it! I wouldn't think that the headlight delete caps would restrict that much air ???

Those hoods do look great, but with a ~$1500 price tag + prep and paint, no thanks...especially if it isn't necessary for cooling.

Its only a grand for the fiberglass one....I must be mistaken then, I thought one of the main reasons for that hood was to let hot air out.

It's a heat extractor hood and it lets heat out. That doesn't mean that your car will run cooler although it certainly won't hurt. It's main purpose is to reduce lift which in effect increases downforce. @ArizonaBOSS

The way I understood it, the air forms a pocket under the hood and not all of it escapes, therefore new cool airflow through the radiator is reduced.
Venting the hood both allowed cool air to flow freely through the radiator and engine compartment and out the hood but also reduced lift.
Maybe that was the sales pitch I read somewhere....

Those Trackspec louvers look mean, and I'm sure they work very well.

In either case, you may get some cooling efficiency benefit, but it's more about giving the underhood air a place to go at-speed, which will help suck the front of the car down to the ground (instead of lifting it up off of the ground w/ the stock hood no vents).

If you are looking to increase cooling ability, open up the front grille area as much as you can with a mesh or Roush-style bar grille, and box in the radiator/condenser/intercooler setup you have, and don't skimp on the lower grille opening--it is the primary cooling source in the 2010+ cars.

Good to know what the reality is....as always, thanks for your wisdom and experience.

Some shots from Indy with Black Boss and some friends we made at the event. We drove with these 4 cars all 3 days and were the quickest out there except for Shaun Day in the SCT sponsored 2011 Mustang GT TT2 car. Shaun is a regional NASA champion who will be going for the Eastern Nationals win at Watkins Glen this month.

No track pictures for me (yet!), but hopefully you guys don't mind that I saved a bunch of your action shots to make a screen saver slideshow for my work laptop. Nothing better than walking back to my desk after a long meeting and seeing all the Boss/GT350 action shots on dual monitors 8)
