Does anyone still make an open side pipe to replace the stock BOSS 302 quad pipes?
Kooks does not.
I loved my oem side pipes till they started leaking. When I went to kooks headers I heard you lost a couple of hp with the sidepipe setup so just got the regular xpipe. Glad I did because local tracks put sound limits and I just came in under as is. I think ARH might have one still? Or was it Dynomax?

Thanks. I'll check ARH and dynamax.
Winter sucks - the Oem pipes "neck down" quite a bit near the end. I want something that is open end to end.
Ive sold a lot of baffles to guys that bought the aftermarket side pipes. You know how to find me if you need them.

Ah, so you just don't want the pipe to flatten, but remain tubular on the end. You could probably find a custom exhaust shop to fab that up if you give them an example OEM pipe with the bracket intact. I could not find anything in a google search.

The OEM pipe doesn't just flatten. The cross sectional area reduces quite a bit near the point that the pipe exits. I am OK with a flattened but constant cross section area. OEM pipe necks down a little in a couple of other places, too.

Wintersucks.... you are the man!
Found a custom exhaust shop and they worked up some short pipes that come straight off the flange and terminate just inside the pinch weld. The only problem is they melted the plastic side trim. Will probable have them add a bit of a turn down on the end. Here is a picture of one. I will try to upload a short video of a drive by at Barber so you can hear them.

Given the diameter and location of your custom pipe how much 'grounding' have you experienced? I assume this the lowest point under your Boss

Sounds great! Some guys here have melted the plastic trim and/or the rock guards with the oem pipes, too. I am wondering if some small fins on the pipe tip would cause enough of a swirl away from the car to get the hot gases further out.

I Loved my open side pipes (fully open), never had any problems from heat until the flexible part failed. But now days in means a black flag for sure at the track for sound. Miss that sound.......

Surprisingly, I have noticed no more "grounding" than usual. The side molding is melted very badly. I am not sure just how much in the way of fins or a turn down it will take to eliminate that. But, if you go this route, be sure to try something. I don't think I can tell if any changes I make are fully effective since such a large hunk is already gone.

If the molding is already burnt, get some of those aluminum heat shield/tape on there. At least between the pipe and the molding. turboed guys running open exhausts usually put it on their bumpers so it doesn't melt.
