Hey guys, who has any experience with the Watson Racing Seat Mount for '05-'14 S197's? I am wondering if they work with side mounts for a Kirkey race seat?

I decided to hold off on the seat mounting for a while, I am working on stripping the sound deadening goop out when I have time. I am going to finish her up with the wire wheel in the next three to four days. The goop is not fun lol.

If time permits I may put the suspension I picked up on either Wednesday or Thursday!

Oh man, that brings back some nightmares :)

Good that you already have the blowtorch present :) Some Goof-Off on a rag will remove almost all the residue left on the painted surface if it is still slightly warm after you scrape off the bulk material.

I may pick some up today, the goop is a nightmare! Haha.

Heat gun and a pneumatic gasket scraper. Comes right off.
Acetone and a rag finishes the job nicely.

I was off the past two days this past week and was able to install the FP suspension I picked up for $300 on another forum, along with the FP Adjustable Panhard Bar the I picked up for $195 from fellow TMO member @wwilde001! Here is my slight dilemma with running these shocks/struts.

NASA Spec Iron rules state:

7.14.9 Motion Control Suspension Shock Package SET-1WNR-NSI-S-01 or HVT Shock Package HVT-F1001-SI is permitted.

and-

7. Modifications

7.1 Permitted Modifications No part or component may be modified, removed, or disabled unless specifically permitted by these rules. Replacement parts must be original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the eligible manufacturer/model/configuration defined in section 4, or the exact equivalent.

therefore,

4. Eligible Manufacturers/Models/Configurations Eligible manufacturers, models, and base configurations are defined below. Additional combinations will be added in the future. a) 2005-2010 Ford Mustang, 4.6L 3V V8.

This means I can run either Motion Control Suspension Shock Package SET-1WNR-NSI-S-01 or HVT Shock Package HVT-F1001-SI or any OEM shock and strut package. Due to the rule that everything is based off of 2005-2010 Ford Mustang 4.6L 3V V8, that legalizes the 2008-2009 Shelby GT. The Shelby GT came with the FR3 handling pack which comes with the FRPP non-adjustable shocks and struts. On the other hand, that is a monstrous loophole. What stops someone from running a Roushcharger or big Roush brakes?

Anyway, I did not want to drop $3k on an MCS coilover setup, CO springs, and MM CC plates plus the adapter kit for the MCS coilovers. I will see how my $300 setup works against $3,000 setups.

The cross-drilled rotors came on this GT, I did not purchase them. I only run blanks or slotted rotors.

Interior-wise, goop is continuing to come out. A blow torch and scraper works for the big gunk and I can finish it off with the wire wheel and my DeWalt drill! I also finish off the paint under the gunk! Haha. I have the rear bottom seat area to go along with the foot wells and the roof. The biggest problem is my batteries dying. I may end up wire wheeling the entire floor and then paint after I fill in some holes. I picked up some metal type goo at Advanced Auto Parts to fill in the holes that hardens, it was in the body work section. After all of that is finished, I have some cheap Epoxy Paint and Clear Coat that will go in.

I PCS to SC in the coming months and the build may slow down, I am going to try to find a house with a big garage! Money will probably head towards that and getting everything to do with homeownership squared away. I am excited about owning a lawnmower, I love scalping the yard and not bagging anything! Haha, my yard will not win any awards.

Does the Acetone soften it? I do not have too much to go and the tight places under the dash are beginning to be a pain!

The heat gun softens it, the scraper removes it and the acetone cleans up the residue that's left.

Ah ok, well I picked something like Acetone up from Advanced and it seems to be doing the trick. Now only if my batteries did not die easily. One of my two is completely trash, it will not charge.

On a good note, I have the roof and the top of the footwells to go!

Small update as I have been PCS'ing to SC and I have been on Leave, I hit Mustang Week and picked up a ton of parts for the SI build!
1. UPR DS Safety Loop: $60
2. FRPP Front Adjustable Sway Bar: $75 (bushings as well)
3. Slotted 14" Stoptech Front Rotors: $70
4. JLT Series 2 CAI: $70.

I picked up 302R LCA's from a fellow forum member as well for $120!

Phoenix Performance sold me two sets of FRPP Relocation Brackets for $200 and one set went on the Boss! Next I will find a UCA and then 3.31 gears to finish what I need for the rearend! Well, that is not counting pads and rotors for the rear.
Spec Iron FRPP Relocation Brackets: $100.

The car has not really been touched since I went to Mustang Week, probably in a few months after I close on the house I am purchasing I will get back at it!

Another update, found some SI legal GT500 wheels on Facebook and spent $550 shipped from Austin, TX! I still have parts coming in. I ordered SS brake lines, Brembo's, and Motul 600 yesterday. I am currently looking for FPP front and rear tow hooks, along with an FPP AC Delete. Also, if anyone has any leads on 275/35/18 Toyo RR's that are used I may go ahead and pick some up. If not, a few hundred for Continental Slick take-offs will be used until official SI races.

This past weekend I got to go see my little sister drive at Carolina Motorsports Park for her third track weekend! The Carolina Regional Mustang Club holds an event at CMP every year and she drove the Cobra!
