Track tires - traveling to HPDE

Looking for some guidance and opinions...

I've changed my street tires at the track for the past couple years, but it's kinda a PITA. Between strategic packing (like playing Tetris), super early mornings and extra prep time, I'm debating just driving to the event with my track tires on (Nitto NT01) to avoid the hassle and save some time. Not sure how much rubber I'm sacrificing driving on the highway for 44 miles each way vs swapping the at the event.

What do you think? Run all 4 NT01 to the event and back, run front NT01 and streets on the rear (compromise) and swap two at the event or swap them out at the track, like I have been doing.

THX!

I drove NT01”s to and from the track with no noticeable drop off in performance. They wear well and last 20+ heat cycles.

THX for the responses. Getting ready to swap pads this morning, so I will throw on the track wheels too. Headed out next weekend and will really enjoy having the car fully prepped when I arrive.

Not having to change wheels when arriving is great. I've been trailering for several years, and driving a track-prepped car off the trailer is great.
But 44 miles to the track? I wish.:) I'm 4 hours to the closest one.

Ive known guys that have driven on Toyo RA1's 5 hours to the track, run them in TT all weekend, and then drove 5 hours home. One guy I know did this for an entire season. Just get them shaved some if you are going to run them in the dry at the track. A new sets tread may squirm a little.
