Want to fix Daytona and Talladega?

Add a few right turns. Daytona already has great road racing. Nascar needs to depart from the past or die with it.

Curious if there would be changes if Nascar did not own these tracks. Would the sanctioning body pressure another track owner to make changes? Hard to say.

The cookie cutter 1.5 mile tracks that have popped up in recent years seems the way NASCAR wants to go. They lead to a more boring race than the smaller tracks and the 2 Big Boys. Future ticket sales will prove them right or wrong....I'd like to see Daytona and Taladega stay as they are....just for the novelty they have.

Had a bloody Mary or two, ate a nice Spam sandwich and watched the race with my buds and won ten bucks from every one pf them who unwisely took on my bet that Jimmy Johnson would crash out before half way point. Sixty big ones for this ol Raggedy Man! I think I'll buy more stock in Hormel!
I enjoyed the race but do agree they need more road courses. I'm thinking half and half at least.

Tyme, Congrats on your windfall during the race. Curious about your Spam sandwich. I haven't had any Spam in many, many years...I didn't know it was still around! Did you fry it in onions?..or coat it in flour or bread crumbs and then fry? Don't tell me you ate it out of the can with mayo?.....NASCAR will never go 50/50....too many ovals will lose too much $$$$$..........

I think the affluence and health food opinions in the 80's did it. The email definition didn't help.

Even though I'm from Hawaii, I didn't grow up eating it despite the state consuming more than any other (maybe combined). First had it working as a short order cook in a diner my freshman year. SPAM sandwiches were on the menu and I eventually had one...instantly hooked. SPAM musubi became popular in Hawaii some time after that, IIRC.

Get a Kaiser roll, a can of spam sliced and fried, add sliced tomato and pepper jack cheese. You'll be surprised at how good it is. My dad was a WWII and Korean vet and we ate it often when I was young because it was cheap. Not so cheap anymore but we usually play poker the night before Daytona and fry up sandwiches for breakfast and along with the Bloody Mary's it's been a tradition since 1985. My daughter likes it sliced super thin and fried like bacon. That's great too. Just can't eat it out of the can. They even have low sodium and turkey spam now. Never grilled it but you guys do that and report back. And another good throw-back is Hormel's corn beef or roast beef hash. Fry that up and throw a few over easy eggs on top and you'll have to start putting a bit more air in your tires!

Haven't had any SPAM since the 70's. Always had it fried one way or another. Thought just came to mind...Why not try it on the grill?? Might give a try this summer..........

I've only had it fried (sliced). I have trouble imagining it on the grill...the whole loaf?

I always have a brick for emergency supply from Costco. I forget sometimes I don't live on an island.

Exactly! That's how I like it.

Just checked the temp outside...Mid 60's & sunny !!!!...unheard of in Feb around here!!! Taking the Boss out for a nice ride!!!
LOL. Was high 30's yesterday morning. Weather's on the wrong coasts!

Tyme, I've had the corn beef and it's awesome with some eggs and toast for a breakfast treat. If I try grilling spam once the weather gets better, I will surely let you know.

Counting on you to grill the SPAM, Bob!

I rarely have corned beef in the house, canned or otherwise. Sometimes I order corned beef hash and eggs in restaurants. One of my friends almost always comments about it looking like dog food. Maybe that's why my kids don't eat it and why I don't stock it in the house.

Grant, No real corned beef with cabbage and potatoes for St Patty's day???(which is soon approaching) I was brought up with ham instead of corned beef for that meal when I was growing up....I always wondered about that...If I don't have cornbread included with that meal my son will have a fit..that's how he was brought up......

Not always for St. Patrick's. I leave that up to my wife. She's the one with Irish blood. We never have cornbread in the house either. Another thing I order in restaurants when I can.

In the 30's today. All snow from Saturday nites storm has melted with the mid week 60's temps. Cold, Raw,rain later today..As long as I don't have to shovel, I'm a happy camper and the Boss sees a window to "get busy".... I'm not sure my luck will stay till Spring???

Looking for NASCAR Atlanta to get started after a long track drying delay. Hope they can fit it in between showers.Boogedy, Boogedy, Boogedy, Boys, Let's go racin............... I see Cup now has Camaros..Where's my Mustangs????
