Quick intro. Yes, silly username for this forum. Ok, now that you looked I'll explain. (Edited to add, just realized I didn't even spell my own user name right. Wow.) It's been my user ID (or very similar) for everything since 2000. I've dabbled in a lot of different things. Drag, oval, and auto-x with my 1993 LX. Got into road racing motorcycles for a bit. Mostly in NM, but also hit several tracks in California. That lead to getting fitter as it's tremendously hard work. Started running and biking which lead to endurance mtn bike races, bmx (as a dad) then Triathlons (IMMD and IMTX). I've raced a lot more, but less relevant here.

What lead me to this site was the desire to have a fun commuter. Stay with me, it gets better. I drive an hour plus one way. Started shopping for a spirited Fox Body. Realized quickly that they are increasing in value rapidly. I bought my 93, in 94, for 14,500. Foxes in good shape are getting that and more now, 25 years later! Was convinced (quite easily as I like heat and a/c) to consider a first gen Coyote car. Found one that if it works out, a unicorn. Still not convinced it's real. Fingers crossed. It's not exactly a DD car but I don't think I can pass it up.

Thanks for reading. I look forward to getting back on a track.

I'm Connor from Baltimore, MD. Recently swapped from an e92 M3 to a Mustang Shelby GT350 and haven't looked back since. Car is very different but love it and can't wait to get it on the track. Just starting some minor modification and enjoying the car before I start getting too crazy. Looking forward to getting a few track and autoX days in the car and will be glad to have this knowledge base moving forward.

@TGR350 welcome to TMO. A stock GT350 is a very capable car. Look forward to seeing what you do to it. Post photos when you get a chance.

I'm Jeff from the Richmond, Virginia area. I have an '85 Mustang GT with a 331 stoker and a 2012 Mustang GT that I took to VIR at the end of last month for HPDE Intro. I had never heard of HPDE before but I believe I'm hooked. :)

My sweet wife bought me a 2.9l Whipple supercharger for the '12 that I installed almost a year ago. Net result was more go that whoa. I'm currently gathering up the parts for the 15 Mustang Brembo brake upgrade (many thanks to "steveespo" and "smallblock"!) shown here...

and here:

I should have everything by the end of the week.

This forum is an invaluable source of information for a newbie like me. Thanks!

Hi; new to this forum. I originally registered in April, when I was negotiating for a 2012 Boss 302, in which the seller ultimately backed out of. Having gotten impatient, I ended up with a 2000 Mustang GT, a super clean, well put together and low-mileage car that seems to have spent nearly all its life as a track car. One-fourth the cost of the Boss, as well...

I had run a couple of Spec Miata races with the SCCA in 2009 (until I realized that I haven't a sheet-metal budget big enough), and began doing track events with NASA in 2010 (or so) in Miatas, but as a long-time Ford guy, felt it was time to step up.

New guy with a Grabber Blue 2017, not new to mustangs but new to s550's. I have owned it a week and already love it. Started with a 95 Cougar, did a PI swap and all bolt on's I could find. Scrapped the cougar and swapped the PI swap into a 98 GT. Still have this one for now. I have used it for some autocross and fun. I have been wanting to get a 15 and up GT. Finally made the move and glad I did. Plans for this one are the same, some autocross and some daily. Excited to see where it goes.

The reason I asked that particular question is because the base S550 brake rotors - fronts at least - draw their cooling air from the wheel side rather than from the back side like virtually every other rotor. They'll be OK for autocross, not so OK for HPDE or other big-track use. PP1 and up models/trims use rotors with the proper design for shedding heat. But the aftermarket *may* develop something for base cars intending to see road course track time.

That is how I began 37 years ago, Autocrossing!! In fact I still go to them and with the Nationals only 60 miles away in Lincoln , Nebraska, it is a must for a track guy --- we have over 1400 participants this September( sold out)!

Tons of very skilled drivers started out Autocrossing, but with Mid Ohio not too far away, along with Pittsburg International Raceway, you are in a great area to hit a track or two when you are ready. NASA and SCCA both offer Performance Driving events within their race structure , and both include Instructors. This is a relatively inexpensive ( compared to the Professional Driver Schools ) way to begin , so that is something to consider. I imagine we have some folks on the Forum from Ohio who will chime in and be happy to let you know about events they go to in your area?
