So I finally installed a set of my jack plates on a 2016 GT350R. The right side went actually quite easy. I used a 5/16 cobalt drill bit in my right angle Makita drill. The first hole I was able to drill thru the entire pinch weld. The second hole required me to sharpen the bit 3 times before I made it thru. The right side was a different story. I used that same cobalt drill but was only able to start the holes (make an indentation) with that bit, regardless of how sharp the bit was. I then switched to a 3/16 regular bit and was able to make a pilot hole. I then went up in bit size to 1/4, drilled out both holes, then switched to the 5/16 cobalt drill to finish it up. Left side took 15 minutes to install, right side about 1/2 hour. They sure fit nice though.
