Wow, this is truly amateur hour. First, it's advertised as a Boss 302R. What might be fun is winning the auction at the $10K ADM you know they have on it, and then demanding they supply you with a 302R as advertised. The ad calls out the 302R several times. It alternates the HP rating between 440 and 444 many times as well.

Here's my favorite part of it though. They willingly lie obviously having no clue about the production numbers. There's certainly nothing official from Ford to support this. If they will lie about this, what could you possibly trust them about?

WARNING- This is a very limited production vehicle- It is estimated that Ford is only making 700 302R’s and 200 Laguna-Secas for 2012. My dealership is the largest Mustang and GT500 reseller in the Southeast and because of our outstanding results we have been allocated more Boss 302R’s than any other dealer in our region.

Stuff like this perpetuates the poor reputation of auto dealers.

That's exactly it. I could out sell most of these monkeys without even trying because I know what the car ACTUALLY is, not throwing some random press clippings out there. Take some pride in your work. You know the guy who put it together did, knowing it's a Boss. Respect the job he/she did and sell the damn car right.

This car is local to me. If they'll sell it to me for sticker I'll buy it and then learn him for the next one. ;)

Translation: I want at least 5K ADM. ;D

Someone must have educated the seller, the auction has been cancelled

...or someone walked in and bought it already.

Since you live nearby, do you know something? wink, wink ;)

I wish I could say that it was because I bought it, but it's not.

It looks like they corrected a lot of info and relisted the car:

I wonder if that is really true that only 700 standard and 200 LS will be built in MY2012? Several dealers have told me that they are not getting nearly as many as they were orginally allowed to order.

AAI had produced something like 70 LS's through the end of February.
I've heard 750 LS for MY2012, and probably around 3000 (or so) standard.

Those are the numbers that Ford has been throwing around.

That is the number I heard too for the standard bosses but thought they were making 1000 LS this MY

I think it's going to be interesting to see what happens on the build numbers. I have said all along that Ford is in the business of making and selling cars for profit, so don't hold your breath that they will be overly restrictive in the build quantities. I am guessing their goal is to try and match supply to demand near MSRP. If anything they'll probably err on the side of ADM so they aren't sitting around on dealer lots and having to provide incentives to move them.

My dealer is the third largest in the Twin Cities region and they were allocated ONE car and it was a Q1 build. There is a small dealer just 40 miles West of me that got a Q1 car on lottery. There was also one out in Rapid City on the West side of the state. I was surprised there were 3 in our state. Then yesterday this guy runs me down on a remote highway flashing his lights in his Suburban. I'm thinking WTH? Anyway I stop at a stop sign and get out and he says "I just missed seeing your car at the dealership by 20 minutes!" Turns out he's been trying to buy one locally and struck out, so started calling around the region. He found an MSRP deal he took up in Fargo, ND who had TWO Q2 allocations. Now they are a smaller dealer than mine. Then he found a tiny dealer out in central South Dakota who got one Q2 on lottery and he made a deal for that one at $2k UNDER! So now there's this guy in SD who has TWO Bosses on order, one at MSRP and one at $2k UNDER. It's really got me wondering how many allocations they are really handing out. It at least seems anecdotally like there are more than were initially projected. Many of the large dealers are getting 6 to 8 cars. I think in total there are about 4,000 North American dealerships.

I remember when I called every dealership in Florida, Alabama and Georgia back in '06 trying to get a GT500 for MSRP. They would have none of it. They didn't even give me the time of day, so I'm still trying to make sense of this. I suppose it seems you might just get lucky if you call enough dealers. It sucks though because I have no way of calling from overseas and email won't express my desire to purchase the car for MSRP or under and how stupid they are for walking away from cash.

I bought a V6 Mustang for my wife and an Escape for my daughter from this guy last summer. I just called and talked to him. He has sold two Boss Mustangs so far. Each was 10k over MSRP. He has a black LS coming in and says that he will mark it up 25k over MSRP and put it on eBay. I asked if I could get a better deal seeing that I was a former customer. Probably not was the answer. Although he did say that he still has allocation and that if I wanted to order one he would make it happen.

If you can wait for the first waves of deliveries calm down, that salesman - if he can get the sales manager to agree - should sell you a street boss for MSRP given your repeat business. Patience is more than a virtue on this - its more cash in the bank.
