I've been shopping around for some new 305/30R19 R compound tires. I found a good deal on Nitto NT01's at $368 a tire and was about to pull the trigger. From what I understand, these seem to give you the best value for your dollar in terms of longevity and still provide good grip.

However, I remember reading on another forum that people who were purchasing the Michelin Sport Cup 2 in the NO Porsche spec with the 102Y load index were getting almost twice the service life out of them than the lessor expensive 98Y load index. Well I just found some NO Porsche spec tires for only $5 more per tire than the Nittos. I would have to pay tax on the Michelin tires vs. the Nitto's, but still a great deal considering. I just don't know how much better they will wear compared to the Nittos.

Has anyone here ran the Porsche spec tire? Any advice on the NT01's? I wanted to support TMO by using Tire Rack, but they just didn't have what I was looking for...

Thanks!

Cup2 definitely has more grip, and for me the NT01 sidewall could have been stiffer. I preferred the R888 over the NT01, but that’s personal preference. The Porsche spec Cup2s wear a lot better and will likely provide twice the life. I have a few friends running this tire and it will definitely last quite a bit longer. This will be my next set for sure. For me, the Cup2 is a notably better performing track tire. Where did you get that pricing on the Porsche spec 305s?

I agree with Chris. I liked the NT01’s but never used R888’s. The US made SC2’s have amazing grip but don’t last long. SC2>NT01 but won’t last as long.

Thanks. I've had two other people who have purchased these tires confirm that they are getting the same performance and twice the service from the 102Y Porsche NO vs the 98Y. After hearing that I went ahead and purchased them. When I called to confirm the 102Y tire they said Michelin only had 16 left in the country.

Yes, I wanted to support TMO through Tire Rack, but I was able to purchase these at over $90 per tire less. This doesn't count the additional rebate as well. Apparently they send the form to fill out along with the tires.
