open trailer for GT350 - what size?

A lot can be said for doing things right the first time. Nice trailer! How do you get access to tie down the front wheels with the rock guard in place? Do you have a photo of where the solar panels are mounted?

The tie downs go over the wheels / tires and are secured to the rails. The solar panel is sitting on top of the box that houses the battery and the winch. Hope this pic helps.

FWIW, I paid 10K for a brand new 25' enclosed trailer and it's got a ton of storage inside. When an open trailer starts reaching that number, I'm not sure why you wouldn't consider going that route.

This is the route I went, I got a really nice 24' ATC raven for 10.5k.

But I will say, I have a buddy with an ACR and a very large chin splitter, he has that trailer which allows him to drive right on it. There is no way he could make it into my trailer without some work.

Lots of nice race trailers for sale on ebay, for example:

I started out with an open tilt back trailer made by Sloan. When I got more serious I realized I needed an enclosed rig. I found that the 28 footer was the perfect size providing ample storage for tools, spare parts, two extra complete sets of wheels/tires. Built in gasoline powered generator, air compressor, winch, awning, etc. Some of my buddies even had air-conditioning.

If that is directed towards me, the reason I went with a Futura open trailer is the weight, ease of loading / unloading, maneuverability (if that is a word) and I didn't want to get a seperate (more robust) tow vehicle. My home track isVIR and is about an hour and 15 minutes from me. Won't be leaving the truck / trailer overnight @ a hotel. It's perfect for what I need. An enclosed trailer has it's advantages, but not ideal for my needs.

Picked up my Futura end of last season. Really happy with it so far.

Solar power for the recovery winch and for the winch that lowers the trailer. Rock blocker, tire rack and wheel tie downs it came to $13k. Buy once, cry once is my motto...

One of the best things about it is how light it is, I can raise it off the tow hitch and move it by myself.

For us low brow types.. there's this, I've owned probably a dozen trailers over my life, some were real garbage., Even with a dove tail, loading one of our cars can be a pain, either a roll back or a "kneeling" trailer is the way to go, even though they are more expensive. Like everything else, get all the trailer you can afford.

I ordered mine from a Chevrolet dealer in NC. I can dig up the info once I get back this weekend. If you go to the Futura website - you can get / request their dealer info. Be warned that it can take some time to get one built.

To answer your question, you need at least a 16.5' long deck. Width needs to be in the high 70's as a minimum. Probably 78", to be safe. GT350s are wide. Like abnormally wide. Every bit as wide as an ACR Viper, if you can believe that. My Futura Tandem is a 78" wide trailer and with -3 degrees off camber, it adds just enough width to make it cozy...

PM sent. You won't want to pass up on this deal, if you're interested in a Futura Tandem.

As a side note, if any TMO Member is interested in a Futura, I'll work with you to get absolutely the best price possible. I don't rely on niche race car trailer sales to put food on the table, so I'm totally fine with getting you guys the most competitive price I can.
