Surprised that they have delivered zero of the base Model 3. In Canada the cheapest Model 3 seems to be about $65,000 Cdn mini-bucks. Not going to have broad appeal at that price. You see the odd one around, but it's pretty rare.

Lately I've been finding the idea of an electric car for daily less offensive, though I still tend to like the idea of a hybrid better, mostly due to the obscene price of power in Ontario.

The beauty of an EV, especially if you're not using up the range on a daily basis, is you charge your car overnight and it's always "full" when you leave your house. If you drive more than a plug-in hybrid might be a better answer. Regardless of the cost of electricity in Ontario it's probably still cheaper, maybe a lot cheaper, then buying gas.

I'm not surprised by the staffing cuts, just like the other auto manufacturers. Car sales are very cyclical. There was a huge pent-up demand from the financial crisis which has been met over the past 5-7 years. So it's time for a breather. Separately I don't think Tesla is as efficient in production as the big three. So they had to have extra workers to produce a car compared to say Ford. Now that production seems to be running more smoothly it's time to cut workers. The bad news is their service centers are overwhelmed because of their poor initial build quality and I'm hoping that doesn't get worse.

I agree with Rick. They're working quickly to automate what they can. In any case, they sold over 150,000 Model 3's in 2018. That's more than Ford sold Mustangs in the same time period.

Actually I think this is a reaction to the fact that Tesla will be losing their Governmental Rebates quite soon (GM is also ) and the slimming down is coming in reaction?

Will be interesting in the future, as there is a distinct matter that once there is a heavy electric vehicle usage, how will the electric grids be able to take the major shift in electric usage? Logic tells many of us that it will be many years in the future before we can go full scale electric, and frankly I think by then we will have gone in numerous directions, with a reasonable number of machines running on Compressed Natural Gas, Hydrogen, Petroleum, Electric, Hybrids and even Solar.

Elon and his ego wont need any gov’t influence to go under.

With all the new EVs coming to market, creating more competition, and lowers the cost of the car. Tesla will not be able to compete with the big dogs.
