The automatic does have a tendency to slosh fluid so far up the side of the pan a delay in manual shift can occur. You can work around it by shifting more out of the curve. I welded a flat baffle in the pan when I changed fluid and filter. Seems to have solved the problem. Cooling is no issue as the cooler is stand-alone, quite large and thermostatically controlled. I've been data collecting temps on track and rarely see 225 F trans temps. This also allows the big Mishimoto manual trans radiator to be used.

More than happy to share suspension tips. I am not brand-loyal and tend not to buy complete "suspension packages." I let the car tell me what it wants based on feel, tire pressure gains, temps and wear. When I stopped racing, I also stopped towing so I drive to events on 200 TW tires and drive home again! My only concession to arrive and drive, is the camber plates. Arrive at -1.25 full out, track at -2.50 camber full in. Take the camber back out, drive home. At home I swap brake pads from track to street.

Agree. It doesn’t sound like you worked on the 14/15 Z/28 but that’s a bada$$ car and very fast on track. Have you made any mods to your auto trans? How’s it holding up?

So far, so good with 65K on the clock. The fluid needed changing when I did it at 60K but the operation wasn't affected. As for mods, I did ad an actual dipstick which makes checking a filling easier and as I said, made a flat baffle and welded it to the pan to keep fluid close to the pickup. I thought about the deep pan but ground clearance would suffer a bunch!

As for the 14/15 Z28, no I was long gone by then! I did a lot of work on the magnetic ride control before I left and we've seen that on Camaros, as well as Shelby Mustangs, Ferraris and Audis, Corvettes, Cadillacs and such

Welcome @Eric62 ! Another question...Did you run cc plates on your '07? What were the best "bang for the buck" mods you made on the '07? No matter how hard I try, (@Bill Pemberton) I just can't get rid of my old, post title 3V!!!

I did not use camber plates on my 07. I used the crash-bolts in the strut to knuckle upper bolt. I was trying to maintain some ride quality over pot-holed northern roads. I'd set the camber to about the max I could get and then set it back after a track day. That became a bit of a pain!

I'd say as far as bang for the buck.... Longer front ball joints and lower control arm relocation brackets made a rather large change for not much money on a lowered '07. Before I changed springs on the '07, adding front camber with the crash bolts and a upping the rear bar from a 20 to 22mm was cheap money well spent with a large return.

Shocks and struts were the next best step but I went adjustable and added the shorter stiffer springs at the same time so you couldn't call that small money!

Based on my experience with the '13, I'd choose the Torsen diff on the '07 before struts.

Hi All, although it's been quite a few years since autocross solo 2 in my German made Capri, I'm looking forward to reintroducing myself to the track with my '17 Mustang GT. Terry Fair was nice enough to forward a forum link to me with all manner of research, videos and other bits of tech interest related to the S550 platform. We have a great track reasonably close by called Pittsburgh International Race Complex, (www.pittrace.com), which I've successfully campaigned our local Mustang Club, (Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club), to participate in next year. Should be fun!

I currently own a 2017 Mustang GT Premium with Performance Package, a 1985 Mustang GT Hatchback, a 2016 Ford Focus ST (daily driver). The '85 is in excellent original condition and will hopefully garner an invite to the Carlisle PA show this Spring. So far, only mods on the '17 area UPR Catch can and MRT "H" Pipe Resonator Delete, although Terry has me convinced to get a set of camber plates and F14 19" x 11" Forgestars. I see that there is a Fall Sale on these...

The ST has a UPR Catch Can with no plans for any further mods.2017 Mustang GT.jpg85Mustang_001 (1).jpg85Mustang_011.jpg85Mustang_025.jpg85Mustang_021.jpg85Mustang_010.jpgford-focus-st-mountune-review-s3-magazine-28.jpgimages.jpgimages.jpg

Hello Everyone Glad to Text You! And I hope I'm Doing this correctly. My Name is Bob L. I own a 2017 Shelby GT350 which I ordered in 2016, Avalanche Grey/Blue stripes, Track Pac, "Tech pac delete". Planned on driving the wheels off! Both on the street and track. But sad to say, have not even driven it to a race track parking lot yet! But I live in Southern Calif. south of L.A. and enjoy cruising to car shows and cars & coffee gatherings in it. Love driving this car through the canyon roads of the area. Planning on moving to Arizona in the next couple of months, Lake Havasu to be exact. Hope to at least some day get that angry little flat plane motor to Vegas for some track time!

Welcome to the best track rat Mustang website in the Universe. Love to see some pics of your ride when you've got time.

I've been lurking for a while, might as well introduce myself. I've been messing around with miatas for quite a few years now, but the v8 itch took hold a couple years ago. I had aspirations of building a decent fox with IRS from this supercharged GT, but the fun of a nearly 30 year old car soon grew old.

So, I stepped up to this Boss. Initial modifications before spring will be minor, Ford Performance k springs and all the trimmings, Watson rollbar, QTP cutouts, and 18x10 HRE FF15s. Car will get 50% autox duty with the miata, and the occasional track day.2013_ford_mustang-pic-2584562291504683728-1024x768.jpeg2013_ford_mustang-pic-3373875555199427636-1024x768.jpegIMG_20170611_195101_169.jpg

WELCOME! Nice rides.

Hi, Dave here from Danville, CA. Recently joined in to get some brake and tire advice and happy to be a new member! I'm 56, retired for about 8 years now (worked in finance in the energy biz and ultimately ran an energy hedge fund for about 10 years). I have two adult kids out of college, one doing her PhD in Cape Town, SA, and one living and working in the Bay Area. I have wife that puts up with my car activities, so I have that going for me! I've been a car guy since I was a kid and worked my way through college as a "light" car mechanic, so I still enjoy the wrench but know nothing about modern electronic and fuel systems. I ordered a 2018 GT350R last year and waited patiently for 6 months for it to arrive... and it was worth it! I own a number of other cars, but this one is my new track toy. I participate in Time Trials through NASA Norcal and other HPDE events through Hooked on Driving, Trackmasters, NASA and sometimes SpeedSF. I trained with Skip Barber Racing School and raced in their Western Formula Series at Laguna Seca for 3 years in the mid 2000's. I switched out of the Formula cars to a Porsche Cayman S around 2009 and now the GT350R is the new track tool (although some might argue that I'm the tool...). I started out as a Datsun fan (a 510 was my first car) and I've owned a couple of Datsun 2000 Roadsters, and I still love old Datsuns. I've owned many brands from the Italians and Germans through the British and Americans, but this is my first Ford. I'm happy to say it has exceeded all my hopes and expectations! I hope to get to meet some of you at Sonoma, Laguna, or Thunderhill soon! I'll be running the "Orangeastang" (as my friend calls it) in NASA Time Trials TT2 class this year.
