Hi guys long time lurker, I’ve been reading a lot of posts, such great knowledge on here.

I have a 2012 Mustang GT premium and I’m looking to upgrade to the 14 inch Brembos (already have the track pack wheels) to get the car ready for a few track days.

I’ve found this kit which includes a pair of 2 piece Ford Performance rotors.

Is the package any good? Are the Ford Performance two piece rotors worth it?

Thanks

If you're just going to do the odd non-balls out track day the 4 piston TP Brembos and rotors would likely be fine for light track day use. What do you plan on doing with your car longer term? It's important to know that to really give a good answer to this question and avoid buying more or less than you really need. But most of us probably started out thinking they'd only do a bit and ended up doing a lot, it's addictive!:p

I had an '11 with Brembos and the TP wheels and the wheels are heavy AF, getting good aftermarket wheels would be a better choice.

Welcome, @Loskey ! It's always nice to see the lurkers come out of the woodwork! :)

I think that's a great price for the 2 piece kit. The original kits with 1 pc. OEM blanks used to sell for about that much a while back. Those (M-2300-S)? are only about $1,100 now.

But I agree with JDee that the 1 piece rotors are fine...and also agree about the Brembo/TP wheels...they're *heavy*. Mine from my '11 Brembo GT are still holding down the concrete slab outside. :D

Overkill upgrade at this stage, IMHO...if you have never tracked, give it a try on what you have for a few sessions (2-4 times). When you get frustrated at the lack of stopping power, upgrade your pads for a few hundred bucks. If still enjoy the experience (many stop at this stage) and feel like you need more, get the kit. BTW, what size are your track wheels? But...if you have money to blow, go for it :)

Thank you for the replies.

I think I will go with the regular m2300 kit with blank rotors, upgraded pads and fluid.
This will be my first track day in over 4 years. I had an S2000 that I tracked occasionally back when I lived in the UK. Tracking a mustang is going to be a very different experience so I’m happy to be in the beginner groups.
I’m a flag marshal for the SCCA in Florida so I can get on track with them for a good price. Daytona would be my local track and Sebring 2 hours away.

I’m aware of the track pack wheels weighing a lot but I think they will do just to allow me to fit the Brembo brakes and see if I enjoy driving the mustang on track.

I would like a set of Forgestar f14 18x10’s if I enjoy the car and want to continue

Thanks guys
