Video from Autobahn:

It was good to meet you at Autobahn, and that video was fantastic. Someday if Ford ever delivers my 52XS I hope it sounds like your beast and maybe I will have a chance to get close enough to play on track. My car is a fresh build and was on its shake down runs as well, got to work on the suspension settings and alignment, and while I could not reach your time I was happy with where it landed for a stock powered car. I left a lot on the table with my 2:41.53 considering my virtual best was a 2:38.42. i need more time at that track to string together a clean lap, so many turns.

You have a beautiful machine there very impressive.

Are you planning on doing the rest of the MVP schedule? I will be at Road America in June and back at Autobahn in August.

Really nice chatting with you track side.

Dave

Dave, Good to meet you too. Hadn't run the full track at Autobahn in the dry for many years. Great to get back there, and pleased to get the suspension roughly dialed in. MVP are a good group, I did COTA with them in February and will likely do Mid Ohio with them over Labor day. My annual pilgrimage to Road America is July 5,6,7 with Northwoods Shelby Club -- another great group with LOADS of Mustangs.

Hope to catch up again soon. Nick

Hmmm....great info from both of you and looks like I will need to contact Optimum Performance in the near future?! Nice that a site sponsor has these spacers as it will save many folks alot of time and energy looking for them? Always high quality from OP also, so no worries in that area either?

At the last event, the engine started "hunting" between 600 and 1100rpm on hot idle. No noticeable symptoms on track. Checked the FP350S maintenance guide and it recommends replacing O2 sensors every 20 hours. Mine had done 33 track hours on the original car and 15 on this one for a total of 48 track hours.

Switched out the sensors and fixed the issue.

Damn...that sounds like an expensive line item for regular maintenance at 20 hours. At least that's a conservative interval/duration based on your data. Thanks for the info.

They can not be cleaned. They shouldn't be sprayed with any cleaners ever. Need to be careful with anti-seize application as well. Always installed north of 3 oclock position as well when making collectors etc to prevent any condensation water from contaminating them.
When they fail, they fail at max value showing the ecu a lean condition which forces max fuel compensation, and thus poor fuel economy and a poor running engine-----all below WOT. WOT usually has a different look up table and often the car will run fine at WOT. It needs max fuel anyway so that's obvious.

Dr Lee is spot on. When defective or an open circuit the ECU goes full rich during part throttle applications, the WOT tables operate somewhat independently of the HEGOs. The problem is all of that unburned fuel washing cylinders down and sooting up the valves and combustion chambers. Keep an eye out for O2 codes and change them every 2 seasons. Nick is on track every day so he exceeds part life pretty quickly.

It's probably time to change my O2s over the summer, as well. Still on the factory ones!

Already have spares sitting in-house...

Continuing to shake down the car. Had to get replacement RH Header from ARH during the build because of an obvious clearance issue to the RH Frame Rail.

After several track days, I thought I'd identified an issue with the LH Frame rail, even though there was nearly 7mm of static clearance. Same with steering shaft with 4mm of clearance.

So I paint marked both locations and ran for 75 minutes, Monday.

Sure enough there's contact at both locations. Not enough to trigger an engine knock code, but contact. Disappointing that both original ARH headers lack clearance on stock engine mounts.

@Kevin Guzniczak @8250RPM Have either of you had issues with the LHS Header?
