i have a 2018 GT350 and will be doing my first track 3vent at Sebring this weekend. Does anyone have an idea how much gas I will use on a 25 and 30 minute track session. I have gas cans to fill up and wit( only 16 gal tank I’m thinking I will need to fill up after each session but don’t know how many cans to load in the truck. I will be running a NASA HPDE event in level 1

Are you only running two sessions; one 25 min and another 30 minute? If so and track isn't too far (say half an hour) you likely won't need much extra. Maybe bring just one 20L can as a backup I don't have a GT350 myself, but there is a local GT350R I'm familiar with that runs 4-5 sessions a day without refueling (although it gets trailered).

Not sure if GT350's are much more thirsty on track compared to GT's, but I've driven a few S550 GT's at our track that can do 3 x 25 min sessions of hard driving plus drive back and forth from the track (45 minutes) without refilling.

I’m going to be running 2 25 min sessions in morning and then 2 30 min sessions in afternoon on both sat and Sunday. I will be driving to track but will fill up before getting to the track they have fuel at the track but I have cans so thinking it will just be easier to bring enough for all 4 sessions on Saturday at least

Oh, ok. Fair enough. If you're filling up before getting to the track, a full tank and one gas can should be enough. Perhaps a second one as backup. I'll let someone with first hand experience comment. Good luck!

Three hard 20 minute sessions for me at Mosport and it starts burping on lefts especially T2, you pull really high loads in the compression at the bottom of that corner. I keep it above half a tank, I kind of feel that burping is unnecessarily hard on the motor, it has to be going really lean for at least some bit of time. I can go longer at slower tracks, but even then I just fuel it whenever it's near half a tank. That's a GT with PP2 as the only power adder.

When I have my foot in it, I'll burn 1/4 tank in a 20 minute session. Less if I'm learning the track etc.

If they have gas at or near the track I'd just fill up when needed (usually mid day).

Same here. 3 sessions (20min) will put me into the danger zone. So figure about an hour of hard track time is about a tank of fuel.

Here is an update for anyone down the road that might be in same situation

I ran 2 25 minute sessions and 2@30 min on Saturday and Sunday 2@25 min 1@30 min and 1@40 min. Think they forgot to watch the clock on that last one. My first time on track with any car. Ran NASA Hpde1 class and used my full tank upon arrival and 25 gal additional gas. Fuel light came on as I was coming off the track for that long last session at a little above 1/4 tank.

My guess is that my next event I will use a bit more as the later sessions I was using substantially more fuel per session than the first few because of the steep learning curve on the first weekend

A few points regarding fuel consumption on track:
1. The gauge is almost useless. I came off track with the gauge showing +1/2. The next session when I went on track, no usage since last checking gauge and the gauge read under 1/4. Yes, I ran out of gas going through the carousel at Road America and limped back to the pit road where I ran out.
2. Running our engines with low fuel may starve the system, run lean and possibly burn valves.

I try to keep the tank on the Full side. When I can add a can, i do. When I arrive at an event, I top off with 100 octane 4-6 gallons, just to add some knock protection. If the event is more than one day, I do this again each morning. I never put fuel in the car which is under 93 octane.

The GT350 drinks a bit more of the good stuff compared to a Boss 302 or 5.0. I usually top off after two sessions. I'd be running 100 octane in your car at the track.

A couple of observations.

1) The GT350 is less prone to fuel starvation under low fuel conditions when cornering than the Boss
2) Fuel use is very track specific. In a 35 minute race at Gingerman last weekend, I used barely over 7 gallons. Same duration at VIR in May, I used just over 12 gallons.
3) As @TMSBOSS says the Fuel gauge lags reality. If you key off and let the car stand for a while, you'll get a more accurate reading at key-on

According to some Ford Engineers 93 is their recommendation , for both the Boss and the GT 350 , so often some 98-100 octane is handy to boost up the rating when only 91 is available? The problem with telling folks what the fuel consumption will be is that drivers are different and so are the tracks. One could be high speed with only a few turns and another could be a point and squirt, short course, that actually consumed more fuel. I remember a good buddy of mine who could not understand why I was using so much fuel, but he was on track only to have fun whereas I was chasing the elusive little wooden " Winner's Plaque?" You have to take into consideration what your desires are on track, how competitive you may be, as well as the course configuration, as these can all come into play to determine your fuel usage. That said , the info TMS listed is a good thing to put in your notes -- low fuel in the factory tank does not pick up gasoline well in big sweepers.

I did not see 100 octane at the Sebring fuel station. THey had 93, 98 and 110. My next event I’ll fill up with the 98 when I get to track and fill my cans with it as well. Thanks for the info about the fuel gauge and octane. I love the GT350 and don’t want to do anything to cause me any problems. An extra $100 for fuel is just as good as the $ spent in track insurance

Just as a side note, 98 Octane is what is recommended for the Boss 302S per the manual instructions ( based on the race tune) , so you will be fine using that at Sebring.
