IMG_1277 (3).jpg Ok. I'm sort of new to the TMO forum. sort of. Been away for 4-5 years.

I am a real Boss fan and have owned a '12 CO, now own a '12 LS in Ingot Silver and a Boss 302 motivated track beast built to Boss 302S/R specs "Thor".

My LS is #46. Has 2000 miles and is bone stock. Love it. Wonderful car. I think it is a special car for two reasons in addition to the limited Boss LS builds. Its's Ingot Silver. Actually like the black LS better but this one popped up 4 years ago and it was #46 so the LS# matches the Vin#. The first 50 LS's produced had the LS# match the VIN's last 4 numbers. I guess collectors go nuts for these little "Easter eggs" and there are only about 130 Ingot Silver LS's made to boot (alhough a buddy of mine made it a point to go out an buy a '12 LS in Ingot Silver so mine wouldn't be the only one in town just to bust my ballz. His has about 16K miles on it and he tracks the snot out of it. Mine's a garage queen embarrassed to say). I have all the "stuff" that came with the car new i.e. owners kit, car cover. The brake ducts and larger splitter have been installed so they are not "in the box" but that stuff can be repurchased. Plus although most here know that the Boss 302 motor is special a lot of people don't realize its substantial differnces vis a vis a 5.0. All my Boss 302's have been as reliable as an anvil.

The GT350R has grown on me though. I don't know the production numbers either but I think production is around 1500 and continuing. My reservations are my concerns with the FPC motor. I have read about some of the issues that concerns me. Also, while the FPC is a neat piece the FPC motor is the same across all GT350 platforms and I know Ford pulled the FPC from the GT4 and is using basically a Boss 302 now punched to 5.2. I also saw at the Rolex 24 when I was there last year they were having half shaft problems. I was in the garage and paddock and one of the "drivers" who knows me asked out of frustration if "Thor" was there since they wanted to use the rear. I said sorry, I didn't bring it with me. LOL.

My use is Cars and Coffee, cruise nights, car shows and pampering it. I have my track animals.

Any thoughts and wisdom thrown my way is appreciated.

Keep the LS.

A GT350R is in my plans too, but I will not get rid of my 4,000 mile CO Boss to do it.

Keeping a 'like new' car isn't for everyone. But that's still the plan for my Boss even though it sees occasional track time. I'd use the GT350R to replace the GT/FakeR as dual purpose, so I can finally gut it for mostly track use.

The LS is a rare bird. Keep it...unless it stops making you happy. I still smile every time I get in my Boss. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
 
Another silver/red LS owner here. I love mine. I drove it to work today in fact. It's waiting for me in the parking lot right now.

I recently had the chance to drive a 17 GT350 track pack. Very impressive. A very tied down and civilized Mustang. But, I would not trade my Boss LS for it. I like the angry roudy analog nature of the 12 Boss LS. I smile every time I drive it. The silver is so rare, too. I get a lot of compliments and looks.

Keep the LS. I think it will hold its value better and be more rare years from now. But the GT350 is a much better car if you’re going to drive it.

Keep it. The Boss 302, particularly the LS, heralded a new era in Mustang capabilities. It's one of those cars that people have posters of and will never forget. I know I won't. There isn't anything like it and there never will be again.

So funny that this thread has popped up because with the revised block and internals in the 2019+ 350 engines promising better reliability, I have been recently contemplating an R myself but would have to get rid of my 2013 LS. I have so much blood, sweat, and tears (and money!) in my LS that it would be really hard for me to part with it. I absolutely love driving it anyway. It's just an occasional weekend car for me (not even 11k miles on it after almost 7 years) so absolute performance on track isn't a concern for me.

But those 350Rs are just about the coolest cars made right now I have to say. I'm off to get some Powerball tickets!
 
I love your Laguna Seca 302! If you love it the way you indicate, I think you would be sad to see it go. Based on your intended uses, I would not suggest you make the switch. With that being said, if you got the 350R, you would have a hard time not taking it to the track. I bought mine with the intention of tracking it seldom, with my other cars doing most of the track work. But it’s so fun at the track, it’s become my primary track tool.

You can’t go wrong either way, but I think you’re at the low-end of the depreciation curve on your car, and there’s still a little room to go down on the R. I have the production numbers somewhere nearby, but it’s a little higher than you indicate. 2016, 2017, and 2018 total over 2000 units. Still making 2019.

Dave/All: Thank you for.all the input. Love the R. I think you guys are dead on the mark. I will keep the LS but I still have the R itch! ;)
 
All that may take a back seat when then new GT500 arrives.............Be careful!!!

At $90K with all the bells and whistles not sure but won't have to worry since there will be no dealer in the U.S. not trying to get $40K adm on the car. That will eliminate the car from consideration for me.
