ST45 Front Pads for GT350

After wearing down two sets of DS2500 front pads in fairly short order I've decided to make the switch to a race pad. I had initially ordered a set of ST43s for the front and planned to continue using DS2500s in the rear until they were ready to be replaced. Well, Porterfield contacted me yesterday and said they did not get their expected delivery of material for the ST43s and offered to send me a set of ST45 pads and I agreed.

My questions are: A) Should I still use the DS2500 in the rear or should I just move on and upgrade the rear pads? B) Will the ST45 work well with the OEM PSS tires on track?

I think the DS2500's will be fine with the ST45's up front. If they're not then replace them. Or if you have a set of stock rear pads you could use them.

I agree with VoodooBoss on this one. The ST45's have a slightly lower mu than the 43's but they're otherwise very similar. As for rear pads, just run the DS2500's as planned.

As for working with the MPSS tires, again don't worry about it. The slightly lower mu translates into better modulation and that will tend to keep you out of ABS a bit longer, and that's a good thing.

From looking at the Raybestos documentation, the ST43's and ST45's are similar enough that you probably won't notice much difference when you do finally get a set of 43's to run.

Thank you for the responses. I conversed with Porterfield briefly through email and they seemed to indicate the ST45 was slightly more aggressive than the ST43. Either way, I didn't think I would have much of an issue keeping my existing rear pads for a while longer but I wanted to get some opinions from those that have much more experience than I do. I'm due for tires before long so I might snag a set of take off GT350 SC2s to go along with a rear pad upgrade to the ST43s when that time comes.

I didn't get very much time with them before the season ended. I ended up having an intermittent loss of fuel pressure issue and parked the car for a few months. The one thing I did find was what I would assume to be the car going into ice mode under hard braking - reduced power until I shut off and restarted the car, which it hadn't done before. I assume this was because I was still using the OEM PSS tires and those pads were too much for the tires? I actually ordered some ST43s for the rear earlier today and new tires are very high on my to do list before the season picks up.
