Disappointing, IMO. I get that there is more equipment, heat exchangers, etc., and that it has to comply to safety standards etc...but weight is the enemy. Hopefully it's extremely fast--but it will likely be chewing up (expensive) tires and brake pads pretty rapidly.

Edit:

I saw this meme just after posting this

Straight Line Car. Much like I don't see too many Demons or Hellcats on the road course 'cause these big girls don't turn too well. Still would love to see one out there and see how they move.

I was wondering if the newly announced GT350R upgraded front suspension, borrowed from the GT500, was really about tire wear and not about handling. Handling's pretty good as-is, but front tires vanish at a shocking rate. Add 400 pounds and you'll need a monthly subscription delivery of fresh MPSC2's.

Thinking about it some more, I have a hard time figuring out where they get an additional 400 pounds from - the supercharger might add 150 and the new gearbox another 100, but that's a long way short of 400.

Of course, we can all look on the bright side - it's an extra 400 pounds of downforce that doesn't require any fancy carbon fiber aero gear and that's always there when you need it, even if you're stopped.

You have to cool +300 more HP, the rotors and bigger calipers/pads probably weigh 20-30 lbs more.

The tire/wheel footprint can be no wider than a 350, so that's the biggest drawback to me. The base GT350 wheels weren't light so maybe they could match them in a 20".

The front suspension upright tweaks may help it turn, but I guess that's adaptable to the 350 as well because the 2020 R will have it.

Gearbox is around 230 lbs, vs 145-ish for a Magnum XL.

Took a little more searching than I was expecting - Tremec moved the 9070 specs page to http://www.tremec.com/anexos/TREMEC_TR-9070.pdf

4200 is way up there in OINK territory . . . I just can't understand why they ended up at a weight comparable to the 5th gen ZL1 instead of doing a better job of hitting the 6th gen ZL weight.

I didn't communicate very clearly the first time - I think the 4225 pound number is a mis-quote and the real number will come in under 4,000 pounds.
