Those early SHOs with the Yamaha were great cars for their time. A good buddy of mine had one. Definition of sleeper off the line. We used to joke about the engine being stout but the rest of it was Taurus and was falling apart.

Freshly flush with cash after a successful launch of the Taurus in 1985, Ford decided to aim at the Pontiac Fiero and build an affordable mid-engine sports car. That didn’t happen.

Seriously?! All this time we coulda had a mid-engine affordable Ford and they went for a sedan?!

Had a bright red 93. It was my wife's car. The thing had a clutch like a cement truck. Heavy and stiff as hell. I know early cars had problems with the clutches so I figured Ford put in a much stiffer pressure plate because they couldn't increase the diameter. Great motor in a meh car. No space in the engine compartment to service it. It was like asking your dentist to fill a molar from up your ass. Sold it before the required 90K $$$$ service 'cause I wasn't gonna do it!

My 89 went through 3 clutches in the first year...last time Ford installed one they told me an updated part was about 2 months away..they gave me a new bronco to drive...and with a dollie under the front they pushed my car to the back of the shop to await the updated clutch...took about 6 weeks before I got it back but it never failed again...sold it in 94.
