Cam and Intake Recommendation

I would like to increase HP over the winter but don't want to pull the motor as it only has 14K miles and runs strong. I will have a pro do the work. So my thought was cams, the best intake that is available and a tune to match. I run a 100 octane AED tune now. I was thinking of leaving the heads alone so it would be a relatively easy job but if it's worth pulling them and doing some improvement to the valvetrain then I may consider it.

The easy button here is the L&M intake cam. The extreme race car button are full cams with phaser lockouts. Touching the heads is a poor value proposition unless you are going for pole and have nothing better to do with the cash.

As much as I like HP and spending money I just don't need to go full bore race car so just cams is what I am aiming for. Since the intake will be off I'm wondering if the current GT/Shelby intakes flow better than the Boss or if the Cobra Jet is too extreme for my mods. I have time to put this together but want to have a game plan in place. Thanks

Sorry I should have split them up. I saw a test that compared several intakes for the Coyote. One was the 2018 intake from a stock GT and one was from a Shelby GT350, the stock Boss, the CJ and then a ported manifold (forget which one). Lots of different numbers and power bands. Have to figure what works best with my mods and gearing. Emailed Shaun at AED for some advice as well.

Shaun is always a good source!! I got all excited about the 2018+ manifold that gave really good results in that big test, but so far have not seen any positive signs/results for the Gen 1 Coyote.

Shaun designed that L&M intake only cam and thats whats going in my Coyote build.
It uses stock valve springs and is the only cam that doesn't trade low end performance for top end performance. They also offer it with some "Matched" exhaust cams but shaun said not to bother with them so it's intake only for me. Also bought the CJ intake as it is the best performer next to the 2018 and GT 350 intakes. The Old stand by BOSS 302 intake was good but didn't quite measure up when compared to the 2018 and CJ on the dyno.

EDIT:
I say "My Coyote Build" but its really just a 26000 mile stock motor with intake cams and a CJ intake and oil pump. So, not sure that qualifies as "a Build" LOL.

One thing I should mention, the CJ intake doesn't fit well in an s550 without engine lowering or an aftermarket hood in case anybody was wondering.

Last comment then I'm out....

I would be very interested to see what kind of numbers you guys are making and with what mods. This Coyote thing is new for me so it would be helpful to compare notes.
I was surprised to find out that the 4v's weren't making as much power as I had hoped for. Had I known I would have put a new short block in the 3v and kept going.

Will read Drews thread tonight. :)

I guess this forum has pretty much all the info you would possibly want to know about the Coyote.... For my part I am shooting for approx 460 rwhp,,,, but a bullit proof build..

You doing ported heads....?

I always just passed over the Coyote stuff because, well you know....3v.
I'm going to have to go back and do some research.

I`only had my exhaust ports polished, but thats about it. So far spending time porting and polishing the block and crank.... They are fairly hideous from the factory... The amount of loose casting material makes you wonder how the things do so well...
