Queue all those who think "Mustang Inspired" means that's what the new Mustang will be...

Did these folks cry when the Mustang appropriated the Fusion front end?

Hmmm...........and if you had been at the Mustang Roundup you might have had an inkling of this before this video hit. Sure just a inkling, but the Blue Oval is busy in many areas that will surprise in the near future!

I think of a Mustang inspired SUV in the same vein as the Porsche Cayenne inspiration from the 911. No reason that the most popular sports coupe in the World can not have siblings morphed from it's style and character? Nice find and there are some shocking machines to come. Like 302Bob, I will need the roar of a 5.0 or something similar in my garage to meet my visceral desires, but there may be something electrifyingly quiet right next to it.

I will definitely agree that acceleration capability of EVs can be amazing, at least from what I've experienced in the Tesla Model S, and not even one of the high-test varieties. If the battery packs are all located low in the floor, the handling characteristics should be significantly better than a traditional crossover or SUV. Still not wild about this thing having anything to do with Mustang/Mach1 branding but that's another story.

.....but, it would be a perfect time to bring the " Lightning" name back, haha!
That seems like a marketing match made in heaven, especially considering focus on the Raptor from a pure-truck performance perspective.

As much as there is backlash on the " Mustang" nameplate being attached to the EV, it makes complete sense to me because I was adamant that Porsche selling SUVs was idiotic and would not take off - how wrong could I have been. Using the Mustang name, arguably one of the most notable nameplates in Automotive History, helps transition over those folks who have wanted a Mustang but the practicality never was feasible and a Mustang themed line could be a brilliant answer for more Ford Sales. Just saying ........

They're going to call it Mustang. What a bad choice for branding.

"Mach E" is not Exactly Mustang. A "Mustang Inspired" name, yep.

Regarding maintenance. This should be spot on. I am looking at replacing our fleet of propane forklifts with electric. Initial cost is more, maintenance and operating costs make up for initial cost in a few years.
