Working on the bumper covers. Found some ultra cheapo paint on Ebay, for $117, ( so it's real, real cheap). But in this case, I pulled a swerve, basically enamel paint is a mechanical adherence proposition, lacquer is a chemical bond. So everything was sanded, but to hedge my bet, and since the covers are flexible, instead of using the enamel reducer/ hardener, I used an old painter's trick of mixing it with lacquer thinner to improve the adherence qualities.20220413_160224.jpg

Scuff and buffed the bumper covers, I can only show you the rear since I launched the front off of the saw horse with the buffer and I have to re shoot it.
Came out pretty good, I put a " hanger" in the license plate indent, but it'll be covered.
Making Earl Scheib look like George Barris.. lol
(You youngsters will have to Google that)

So I'm a bit torn here, I was thinking solid black with gold letters, with red outline, but I keep looking at Parnelli's old 69 trans am car....
Basically what is now gold will be a dark red.
The thing is, the new cars don't have the zoomy looking shark nose ( thanks NHTSA) that the old cars have. To me, the 69 was the best mustang body style.. ever

Well, there has been a development, a neighbor came by and commented that the old black paint looked pretty good, so we sanded the real bad spots with 1K and hand rubbed it and holy nuts, it shined right up once the funk was sanded out of it. I never even considered repairing the paint instead of fully painting it. This means I would only have to change the gold to red, since that is where all the damage is... hhmmmm
What do you guys think?

I think the red and black vintage look would be sweet !! 😎 I agree, best looking Mustang.
My mom had a 69 stang back when I was high school. My brother and I kicked the crap out of that car........oh if we only knew.......ended up selling to my buddy for $500 and he finished it off .
