Its definitely a special talent....
There's a very fine line between " 1 more and it will be perfect" and " sonofabitch!".Its definitely a special talent....
Me, I don't paint anymore...I mean, they don't call me the run king for nothing....
It's a solid color, I really don't go by "coats" because depending on how much you thin it, the amount of color is different, so I go by amount of paint, and what is on there is just about a quart. How many coats is that?
How do you deal with all the flying insects and such on the wet paint ?
Usually some 1500 grit and a buffer, funny story there, back in the day I painted a ski boat, little sucker got in the clearcoat and hot lapped the entire deck, those fumes would've killed you and me but, that little sucker must have lasted all night until the hardener kicked. How do you deal with all the flying insects and such on the wet paint ?
The secret is to leave all the "wet paint" signs in plain view for everybody to see.....................................................................How do you deal with all the flying insects and such on the wet paint ?
Your " beater " is looking better every day !
I tend to be a DIY type and think my Boss would look sweet done in the " Fighter Jet Grey " with the Boss logo and stripes in black and a hint of red accents. So do I try wrapping myself or doing a spray ? Hmmmmm. I haven't sprayed a car in years . I guess the wrap will come off if I really mess it up , Hah !
Something like this.

The 70 boss had 2 headlights and no scoop, the 69 had 4 headlights and rear fender scoops. The boss stripes were also different, but race cars are often a mix n match deal. The 18 inch wheel is tough to make in 18 inch, they were 15s, and either the salleens or someone made a PJ boss 302 before the factory ones came out, the wheels were mini lite.. ish, but the look wasn't that great.Looking nice! I noticed the pic you posted of the '69 race car is a fastback, but the "scoops" in the rear quarters that were typical of that model year are covered over on the race car. Gives it a different look, a little less "gimmicky" without the scoops - I like it. I tend to favor the early coupes over the fastbacks for some reason; I like the '67 because the "scoops" in the rear quarter look the most functional (or least cheesy?).
Still hard to find an appropriate wheel to pull off the Minilite look of the Trans Am cars. I think Panasports max out at 16x7. I found the Shelby CS80 that looks close, but it only comes in 20x9.5 and 20x11, and they're heavy.
