Hello all,

First time posting. I'm relatively new to the the Mustang platform, but have done HPDE events over the years in many different cars. I recently ran a set of R12 pads in an event at Mid Ohio Race course. The brakes performed great. By my last session I had full confidence in them and experienced consistent performance with no fade or other issues. I've driven at Mid Ohio several times, but this was my first time with Gloc. After getting home from the event I disassembled everything to inspect. All of the pads looked great except for one outer pad on the front driver's side. The pad had begun to chunk pretty badly at the center. The pads were bed properly on new rotors, and I don't believe they were over/under driven or improperly used. I'm curious as to what might have caused this, and if it's ok to continue to use them?

Details on the car:
2017 Mustang GT Performance Pack w/brembos
305 Square Michelin PS4S Tire
R12 compound front and rear
Castrol SRF fluid

First pic is the inner pad, seconds pics are the outer.

I would get ahold of the Puskar ( Push -Car ) brothers at G-Loc and ask them about this pad. Just out of curiosity did you have the pads pre-bedded? I usually prefer a more aggressive front pad for tracks like Mid Ohio that have a high speed straight with serious braking --- back stretch going towards China Beach.

Bill, thanks for the reply. I have emailed Gloc the same info. If I don't hear anything in a few days I'll try giving them a call.

I did not have the pads pre-bedded. The gentleman I spoke to at KNS Brakes said it probably wasn't necessary with R12. They do however recommend it when moving up to the R16's.

I'm hoping these aren't toast after one session. That would be a major bummer as they are not exactly cheap!

I would give G-Loc a call and I have found over the years to recommend one always get G-Locs or Carbotechs pre-bedded. The Mustang is a heavy car and I suggest customers always tell the folks they are buying pads from to let them know where they plan to run. Mid Ohio is a fun track, but with the high speed braking zones I would have recommended a more aggressive pad -- R16 as you mentioned. Good luck and sorry to see you had an issue.

Curious, did you run any brake cooling? I just tried an R10/R8 setup (pre-bedded) and didn't have a problem but there were only 3 hard brake points per lap.
I have the factory deflector plates installed. I'm thinking not having them prebedded was a mistake.

Regardless I got a reply from Danny and he said this is an air pocket in the mold that happens from time to time. It looks worse than it is and is fine to run. So that's what I'm going to do!

Thanks for the help guys.

Always have them prebedded the price difference is small but it saves a lot of time (who has time to properly bed pads anyway?). I'm sorry that this happened to you but if Danny said that it's fine to run then it's fine to run one of my front ones R10 has such cuts but it's much smaller then yours still looks fine to run.
