After all the concern of Ford going super EV, it is nice to see that Mustang will continue for quite a few years as a " Wild Horse " not to be tamed. Thank the lord that Tremec will be building the 6 speeds from now on, at least in GTs.

The spec sheet shows the Getrag in the GT and Tremec in the Dark Horse.

I don't love the "Dark Horse" name/badge but the specs are great. If I had my way I'd bring back the Boss 302 name and have "Dark Horse" a step above like "Laguna Seca". A production Coyote pushing 500HP will be sweet to see though.

The good news (for my wallet) is that I don't have an overwhelming desire to replace my car. Looking forward to seeing these on the road and the track!

Can't wait to see the pricing on the Darkhorse S and R, they would be worth getting back into W2W racing ------whoops, never mind I just remembered I am retired and I would have to go back to work to afford one. Anyone need a fairly successful Automobile Salesperson to work occasionally when not off racing?

This website seems to have a pretty ”connected” group of members in the industry. I’m wondering what the process will be to get one of the club racing models.

How did Ford allocate the 350S to interested customers? It’s really cool that Ford is going all in with the factory built racecars.

  1. Dark Horse is impressive with the twin throttle body intake manifold and 500hp.
  2. Newly revised Magneride will only be an improvement.
  3. Looks like it gets GT350 style Brembos which is an enhancement over the PP2 and Mach 1 setups before it
  4. Carbon Fiber handling pack seems available
  5. Interesting they switched from Michelin Cup 2 to Pirelli Trofeo
  6. 500hp Dark Horse Coyote seems to be 5.0 based, not 5.2. They must be saving the 5.2 block for something else down the line.

Mechanically this will be the best Non-Shelby Mustang they've ever built, but the styling is not my flavor inside or outside. The Dark Horse S, R, and the GT3 and GT4 entrants are awesome looking. The massive swan neck on the GT3 version is sick.

3900 lbs curb weight. Ugh-h-h-h! I think the added HP is going to be used up lugging that lard around.
The flat screen dash is about the only thing much different than current (IMHO not better, just different), mostly this is just styling tweaks.
I think I'll be hanging on to my at least 500 lb lighter car. No reason to change for this bloated creature.

Overall I like the new car but there just isn't anything majorly new over the S550. It's a mildly improved S550 at best.
I like in the reveal when they said "the Dark Horse is the GT turned to 11." ........if the GT is turned to 5, the Dark Horse is turned to 6, maybe 7.
I was hoping they would make a GT3RS version with loads of aero and completely track focused. I suppose that model could still come later.

This was their chance to add tons of aluminum to the car and bring the weight down and it weighs exactly the same. Shame.
At this point, I'm only excited about the S, R, and GT3 models.

I keep holding out hope for the Detroit Auto Show. Afterall they launched the S550 and then launched the GT350 at Detroit. We could be seeing something similar here with this as well as none of the cars announced utilize the 5.2 block in any capacity yet and it's just sitting there on the shelf. Would have been easy for them to get higher hp numbers by just making the 5.2 the default block in all of the new cars, but they kept the 5.0 displacement instead. Makes me think the 5.2 block is destined for something else down the line.

That or utilize the new 5.4L engine that will be in the new GT3 car.
