BIG bucks I think?

Does its MSRP read as $44,070? Hard to read here:

It's still literally like brand new so I guess approx $3500 over sticker isn't bad at all, especially if you want a '12 YB specifically, of which 178 were produced with those options.

I have 4,050 miles on mine... not a YB of course but still just as near brand new as that one. Doubt I'd get even 40k for mine! Haha ;D ;D

With sales tax @ purchase, insurance + auction fees, mthe seller took a loss. On the flip side, buyer paid a little more than new which is also silly. Hard or maybe just silly to try to understand auction values on new cars.

The real evidence will be if Barrett-Jackson has a BOSS at their Phoenix show a few January's from now on a Friday or even Saturday morning. Place, ent in those auctions often reflects value.

Lesson learned though, if you wish to sell, go to an auction.

BLAZN BOSS

My Yellow Blaze sticker was 41,600.00. No options and includes the 495.00 tri-coat charge and destination and delvery charge. So with the Recaro/Torsen and Car Cover/floor mat charge is just about right for a 44K sticker........i think......can't remember the exact prices for the two options.

I was at the auction and watched it go across the block. The car was in as new condition and advertised as a "very rare color". With commission & fees the buyer paid over $ 50K! Seems high to me but great to see our cars holding their value and in this case actually appreciated! If the seller paid retail they came out pretty close to even. But then again with only 11 mi. on the clock they never experienced what the Boss is all about which is their LOSS!

Great, first hand reporting!

Were there a half a dozen folks bidding on the car?
or-was the auctioneer "looking into outer space" calling the bids?
or-were there a couple of bidders fighting over the car?

...need to know in order to legitimize the bidding process...

At any rate, it looks like there was a perfect convergence of model year, miles, color, seller, bidder, auctioneer and bidder's assistant that enabled what is essentially a 2 year old Mustang to bring $3500 over MSRP.

What is it do you mean by "legitimize the bidding price"...Do you think the auctioneer was just standing there running up the bid and the buyer just stood there watching nobody bid?......and you consider these cars just a Mustang?

Obviously, somebody really wanted a 2012 YB Boss 302 w/ 8 miles on the odometer, and were willing to pay up for it, whatever that took. Good for them, I guess.

Likely this one will remain garage queen, never to see single lap on a track, a smoky burnout or high RPM full throttle upshift... a fate seemingly pre-ordained for cars such as this. Really, what's the point of owning one if you can't (or won't) drive the damn thing?

It is called "chandeliering".

It is not illegal.

For example, since the Boss had a reserve, it is a method the auctioneer uses to get the bidding moving forward to the minimum price the consignor will accept.

If there are at least 2 bidders fighting over this Boss, and they are meeting the reserve, there is no need for the auctioneer to "chandelier".

there were three bidders then two, started at $ 35K and quickly went to $ 47,500 where it hammered. Interesting note the 012' Boss was on display sitting right next to a fully restored Yellow 69' Boss 302 which also crossed the block just ahead of the 012'. The 69' got to $ 80K but did not meet reserve. So hear comes the 012' marketed as a "future collectible" and I'm sure the buyer is hoping for a similar return someday. I hope he's a patient man!

Because every car doesnt need the S_ H- I_ T_ run out of it to enjoy it.
