Actually very happy with my mechanic. Couple years ago I changed my transmission by myself with my back on a cold stone floor.... I thought, I am too old for this shiznit... Hoping to get him some time in the seat so he can be my co/driver if we end up having a endure this year. At least thats...

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

Thanks everyone....safe and sound. My mechanic walked over to the local machine shop and left the two flywheels (with a used Crank to check), with the shop owner ... the old timer checked them and called my guy to say take them away, they are fine as they are... right at the tightest tolerances...

I know is worrying me a lot! We are on total lockdown again so I cant even go see the car. Nervous
  8. Mad Hatter

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

Thanks, Strange... the crank measures 1.7496" and the flywheel is 1.7441", thats 0.0055" smaller then the crank... And thats on both cars. Going to gently polish them to get at least the same size.

Looks like its not going to be easy to machine.... Saw another post about the same problem in 2019 on another exedy flywheel. Sending it back is not a option for me.
  10. Mad Hatter

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

Well WTF.... the Exedy flywheel is machined 0.1mm to small and does not bolt on the Boss... So we tried the second Exedy kit we bought for a S550... and guess what, It also is 0.1mm to [email protected], did you have the same problem?? My mechanic does not want to force it on so wants ot take...

Yeehhaaa, Clutch arrived and going into the car tomorrow. the Exedy hyper Looks much much better built then the Spec 3 clutch that flew apart, so thats nice to see. Our race for the 11th of April has been delayed due to the third Covid wave that is spreading quickly down here. At least we are...

going to try our hardest to be ready!! Clutch should arrive late next week and transmission case is swapped and almost ready.
  13. Mad Hatter

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

Looks like we will have more time to prep the car, Covids third wave is closing every thing down again even as Chile is sprinting way ahead on vaccinations with 45% of the population having at least the first jab. Should see the effects next month, fingers crossed. The last time out, the car...

The original Cortex basic coil over kit was with single adjustable shocks (rebound only). Since they are very worn by now, switched them for new Koni Double adjustable shocks. Stiffness and rebound controls. Was a cheap fix. *.... Cheaper.... is more correct!

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

Since the car is in the hospital wating for its tranny case swap and new clutch, We took advantage of swapping out the old Koni SA shocks on the Cortex coilovers for a set of Koni DA inserts.Low and behold.. the DA is a little longer, so the cap would only get a get threads on.Koni DA on...

Well, I could not wait for any mails to come in or will end up missing the next race in April. Bought two Hyper Exedy singles, one for me and another for a 2016 S550 that's getting into the addiction. But the tranny is apart and innards look great..... though I would say the donor box for the...

Well sitting here in a tizzy wondering what clutch to buy on Monday... If @ajaquilante uses the Exedy Hyper, I guess that's good enough for me.... I see that @blacksheep-1 is very positive about them as well..

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

Well tranny is in the shop to switch the case, and trying to make up my mind between a Exedy Hyper single and Mcleod RST twin disk. Surprised to see that they are pretty close in price. Probably worrying to much about it but the 470 rwhp is on 93 pump gas, so we could see bigger numbers in the...

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

Well, dingles aside, I really only drive too and from the track now, or to log it when traffic allows... the car tends to attract a fair amount of attention!! Guess I am looking for the best performance with some decent life. Getting tired of having the car up on the hoist.Sent emails off...

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

Guess I am no longer a faithful supporter of Spec clutches. This cluth has no more then 4 track hours. Felt fine on the trackGuess things got hot and the rivets failed, and then the pucks made an exit.......Maybe now the tranny will run cooler now?

Yes, my bad, those temps are in F. Actually remembering well now, the Stock water temp was going to max, but the oil temps did not reach 300 degrees. With out the grill oil temps came down a bit but water temps did,About the Exedy Hyper? would you recommend against a single? I imagine once I...

    S197 Boss 302 in Chile

It was a very hot day with temps over 90 degrees F. Gearbox did not overheat with temps around 240C max, but engine temps did get close to 290C so had to back off till we took the grill off then temps were fine.

Ahh! Forgot to mention that the turn downs on the exhaust squeezed me by the 90 Db limit at 6000 rpm. Kind of like not being deaf at the end of the day.

Here is a video of my fastest lap of the day. As you can see still a little timid on whats basically our first time on the full track. Lots of room to go faster!! Selling my extra Apex rims and slicks to appease the pay pal gods so they will let me get an Exedy Hyper
