S197 3V Fabman's build; How did we get here?

I'd venture to guess that the "entry level" SLA, as Cortex calls it, would not shave 90 pounds since it uses modified OEM spindles for OEM-style brakes. There's probably still some significant weight savings because of everything else though.

*spits coffee out*Wow, that's with no other changes? Just OEM-style struts to SLA? Did you change the brakes as well and how much would that account for?

I thought that's what those were for. Thanks. Such a nice piece of equipment.

Sorry for another noob question...how is camber adjusted on the Cortex SLA?

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Thanks!

Question about your Cortex SLA. Does that setup add any significant amount of weight over the stock(ish) layout that you know of? I imagine the advantages it offers outweigh (heh) any cons so it's probably irrelevant anyways. No worries if you don't have that info, just thought I'd ask...

Considering all that you've gone through with this bad boy, that doesn't seem like horrible news. Those are some great pictures too! I'm amazed that you are able to run just as fast as a heavily modded blown 3v. That's just nuts. Well done!

You need a lab coat and some crazy hair to complete the Frankenstang look!

Is there a better looking engine? I don't think so. Great job Sal, and thank you for the constant updates! I look forward to every notification I get for this thread.

No, it's the Ford Racing one. I just put it on well before I knew what I was doing.

Makes me want to take a look at my 3v intake. Huh.

I find that in situations where I just can't find a way out and want to throw in the towel, it's best to turn it all off and find something else to do for a bit. Take your mind off of it and the reattack it at a later date. Solutions usually come shortly thereafter.

[email protected]#$Man, if you do the 5.2 swap that'd be awesome, but that's a helluva pricetag. Don't give up on it. What about an ecoboost? I don't know, just brainstorming on ways to keep it unique.

S197 3V Fabman's build; How did we get here?

I think you made the right choice just from a supportability perspective. Like you said, not a lot floating around any more for 3vs. If mine ever goes I'll probably end up swapping to a Coyote as well just to keep it running. I wonder if any of the Aim dashes would make the electronics piece...

Keep us posted, Coyote swap details can be a little tricky to come by. Most of the builds I see usually go from steps 1 & 2 and then skip to step 10 and I never see how they get it to work in-between.

Have you considered lowering the splitter with a spacer of some sort to try and get some more downforce up front?

Reminds me of a post I saw where the import was bragging about having to run monster 275s and I was thinking "damn, that's what I have and they're barely adequate."I need some bigger rubbers.

We have a 2013 F150 with the V8 and a 2016 Escape as well as my Mustang and many, many Ford Hot Wheels and models around the house, as well as a Ford Only parking sign, posters, a coffee mug, and I have a Ford Racing jacket that I wear religiously. These things just kind of appear.I know how...
