4 posts are pretty stable, for a long time mine wasn't bolted down and one of the safety levers hung up, I didn't notice it until it was all wanged out, I was able to raise it and reset the lever, then lower it again, and that was with a car on it!!.
Anyway, I painted the levers bright yellow , made some footers for it, and bolted it to the ground in my shed (not garage) .

Still a good call even if it may sound a bit excessive.

I used to do structural analyses that considered seismic effects, and I was actually on the second floor of the office when that 5.8 quake in Virginia happened (2011). Oddest feeling, the whole floor gently swaying back and forth, clearly moving.

and to be honest, using the quick jacks on the 4 post isnt all that unsafe imho....as long as the 4 post is non skid.

It's an interesting idea that at first seems "unsafe', but the more I think about it, I might try it
if I had quick jacks. Could be useful when you don't want to jack up under X-member or rear diff.

You can park under a car raised on a two post lift also. There is usually more clearance to open the doors on the lower car with a 4 post.

Many of the 4 posts come extra tall, can fit even fit full size SUV/pickups under.
I just got one recently that goes up high enough to fit a 3/4 diesel with tall cap under it.

i have to ask my GC what psi the concrete is.....but the more i think about it the more a 4 post with the quick jacks seems appealing to me. (I already have quick jacks).

Tony With your ceiling heigth and you vertical prowes, you may have challenges working under either lift. Storage, stacked cars, should work for you. In a shop/garage like yours, the flexibility of a four post may be your best option. You could roll it into the back section and lift a car and then park under it. Want more room around the lift to "Spread Out" pull the lift forward. Look at 120V pump for the lift. With 220V you will need either expensive cords to reach the lift when you move it of several 220V outlets. Are you close to having the Twin Hair Dryer monster finished yet?

i was begging the city to let me do separate 100amp service for the garage so i can have 208. Sadly, my tiny house on,y has 100 amp service. My shop has plenty of 50amp single phase soow cable. We stock all the way up to 150amp 3phase + ground (2/4 sooj). If you ever need me to make you one i can.

i have plenty of time to decide.....i’m still waiting for you to figure out which set of apex’s you want to sell me.

You can have either set of Bill's wheels. LOL.

he said you dont need the black ones on your R.

the height of floor to ceiling is 112’.....im 6’5.....i used to hate working on car lifts thats why i moved to the truck shop at ford.....all the lifts rose 7ft.

Deciding between these 2

i like the greg smith because it can be mobile

or a set of apex 19x11 square with sport cup 2’s

Take a look at the direct lift site. They are made in Indiana.

wow, they have everything i want. Thank you so much
Some still are.

is that really an issue......they are still ALI certified and at least run an iso9001 facility in china by an american company..... saving $1,000 is kind of a big deal now.....that can go to buying a set of apex 19x11 square.......

is that really an issue..

That's a personal issue. Just make sure any decision you make is fully informed.

With respect to the factory "owned by an American company" that may be true. But note that they didn't say THEY owned the plant. It could be a front company Incorporated in America but wholly owned and controlled by a Chinese company.

What really waves the red flag is that the FAQ goes on to say that because it's an American company they must meet ISO requirements.

That is BS. Meeting ISO standards is entirely voluntary and not a requirement. If they are deceptive or misleading about this, all bets are off as far as I'm concerned.

By the way, no matter who owns a company or where it is located, meeting ISO9001 just means their procesess and procedures are fully documented and adhered to.

Many companies use such certification in conjunction with their own high standards. But some don't.

A QA specialist I used to work with used to say that, depending on the company, it could just mean it can produce a perfectly documented piece of c**p.
