I would be impressed if the 2nd owner could get what he paid for it, if that is the case.

There may be only one number 0001 but there are two number 1 Boss 302's. The real number one is LS001 with VIN C5200001 and was the first production Mustang of any type to come down the line in 2012.

For those that don't know the first 50 LS Bosses were the first 50 cars built in 2012 and all have VIN's that match. At best it is number 51, maybe 53-54 depending if any other Bosses with the LS package were built be before this one.

Re: 2012 Boss #0001 going to auction-Monterey, CA

And do we really know if it was the first 2012 Boss 302 made? My understanding with the way the production worked is the first one could have been pulled aside and the this is the first one that made it to the finishing place (the name escapes me at the moment) and was given serial number 0001. Whatever it is Shane did good by selling it and I would have done the same thing.

I'm real sure how that worked, Chris knows more about the blend numbers and order they pass. I do know there are five Boss 302's without the LS Package that have the first day (2/14) build date. The first four, up to Eddie's Boss and car number 0022. Then there are some cars with a 2/16 date that have a lower number then some 2/15 cars.

I know more about being second myself since I have the second car built on the second day of production and the second car built in Yellow Blaze ::)

The certificate of authenticity says it is #1.

That must count for something?

I'm not saying it does not count for anything but it is not really the first "boss 302" built. It is the first Boss 302 built without the LS package. I would like to say I have the sixth Boss built but in reality it is at least number 56. IMHO a Boss 302 is a Boss 302 with or with the LS package and not two different models.

The Monterey auction is August 15th-17th, 2013.

The advertised Mustang Boss 302 car to be sold at Monterey was built on February 14, 2011 with a VIN of 1ZVBP8CU2C5200884 and is advertised as the "First Boss 302 Street Edition" produced.

If that is the case what does that make my car with a VIN of 1ZVBP8CU2C5199915 and was built on Monday, October 25, 2010 which is almost 4 month earlier than the car being auctioned at Monterey?

I consider "PP0001" the "First Boss 302 Street Edition" produced and sold to the general public based on information provided to me from various Ford personnel.

The build sequence for my car is "PP0001" and according to the information provided to me this Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca was the first and only Mustang Boss 302 built on the day shift Monday, October 25, 2010.

It should also be noted that other Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca and regular Boss cars were built on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 and were sold to the general public therefore making them much earlier builds than the car going to auction.

Good luck to the owner of this car as I will be interested to see how it does?

Harry

I agree. From what I read in the original posts, he over paid. Good for the guy who got the cash and a free Boss out of the deal. I wonder if he still has his?

Maybe I'll attend the auction, not to buy of course. Anyone else coming into my neck of the woods during that week?

It is not a great time to sell a collector car unless it is really special. I think it is too soon for the 2nd owner to expect a big payday on this one.
