I use to turn it off on the street. Until one day cold weather and cold tires bit me in the ass and I hit a curb, bending the axle tube and shearing the axle shaft... lesson learned, not worth turning it off on the streets. Now I turn to sport mode once in a while when I'm in familiar places... in mexico.

On track, it's all off. Unless it's raining, then it's sport mode again.

Although I didn't bend an axel, I had similar experiences on the street......in Mexico. Nannies have their time and place. Once you feel them holding you back on track and smoking your rear brake pads, experiment while driving in different modes. Once you can feel the difference and understand problems can bite you quickly and you can actively compensate. Driving without nannies is the only way to go on track.

Remember, most tracks have generous run off areas where needed. On the street is lively Mexico.....not so much.
