anyone have a dealer fix a 2013 stripe yet? I noticed today the B and O are peeling off on the passenger side of my car. Wondering how well the dealer can install these. Guess I'll see. Probably give it another month to see what else comes off.

I've had a couple of small bubbles in the decals but I was able to smooth them out. No peeling yet.

Have you gone through a car wash, or had the car washed by anyone else?

The decals are very thick, and you have to be very careful when washing the car.

The Boss Owner's manual warns against using automatic car washes, or even wash wands in car bays. Hand washes only, and try not to go against the grain of the decals.

I think this is going to be an ongoing problem.

bumping my old thread.

Anyone have a dealer fix stripes yet?

My original problem the B and O lifting, I did nothing about it just let it go, over the winter the bottom part of the fender stripe got removed somewhere? I'm guessing from snow? or grinding against snow banks? So I bought a new passenger side fender complete vinyl piece this will fix my original B and O problem and my new missing piece. ($280 cost for this damn sticker)

So the other day I noticed one of my hood pieces is cracked and now looks to be bubbling and lifting. I'm guessing a rock hit it and somehow cracked(?) the stripe then dirt or grime got or is getting under it now. I'm going to try and warranty this piece. Now I know the fender part is my fault (well I think) but the hood should be warranty right? Now I understand most don't but this is a car and it should be drivable year round.

The B and O on both sides of mine are lifting. One of the thin hood stripes is also lifting a bit. I noticed it the 1st time I washed it last October, but figured I would wait thru the winter to see if any more issues with them. Bought the car in Tennesse and live in Iowa. Waiting for spring to get here to take it in to a local dealer and see if they will warranty it. I am assuming with 400 miles on the car, they damn well should!

I'm having mine looked at by the dealer this Friday. I noticed two days after delivery the thin hood stripes are peeling up as well as the Driver side B and O fender letters. This was a known problem with the 13s were first released. It was supposed to be fixed, but my car is a Oct 2013 build so that didn't happen. I'll report back on warranty once I get an answer from the dealer.

I had issues with small bubbles on the hood stripes, edges lifting with the small pieces on the tops of the fenders and a misaligned section where the hood meets the front fascia.

The dealership inspected these areas and submitted photos to Ford. Ford warranted the replacement without issue and subcontracted a local graphics specialist for the removal and install.

I wanted the procedure done in my garage being a control freek and assisted with the R & R.

From my experience this is not a job for a dealership if you want it done correctly, it's not difficult but experience and patience count to be properly done.

Ford sells or warranties the Boss stripes in mostly kit form so if you only need one piece it will arrive with pieces you may not need.

I thought of waiting to have the replacements stripes done but didn't want to chance the newer stripes looking different than the originals.

The warranty for cosmetics could be limited after delivery.

Good Luck!

damn lots of issues. I'm going to replace my fender piece then see what Ford will do about the hood. Just need a little bit of spring weather up here.

It amazes me that 40+ years after the first Boss this would even be a topic of discussion. Why didn't Ford just use the old technology? I have never heard of a 69-70 with stripes coming off and I bought my first Boss in 71.

I test drove a new Boss recently and they sure went backwards on the shifter too. It was cold that day but why didn't they just use a Hurst? The concern about stripes looking like hell in a few years is the very reason I bought a stripe delete Shelby.

I never get tired of driving it!
This issue with the stripe was on the pieces that went on the front Fascia (nose) of the Boss. The rest of the car was fine. Mine is a Feb 2012 build and was held up because of the stripe issue. 3000 miles and no issues on mine.

yeah those are fine on mine it's right above that on the hood that is becoming an issue. I need some warm spring weather to clean my car up ditch my snows and get it down to the dealer.

Well my car was one of the few that made it out before the hold on the nose stripes was in play. I had that replaced along with my whole hood stripe. When I took delivery there were very weird "discolorations," kinda like streaks of slightly darker color, running through a section of the T stripe. I have now had them all replaced 3 times, so finally on my 4th set of hood stripes they seem to be good. I will say, the latest set was installed by a different dealer and so far so good. I'm sure they'll be able to handle the fix for you just fine, if it comes out bad just go to another dealer.

I'm a bit bothered by the fact that neither dealer could service the car properly, having to bring in their "decal guy." I could understand if stripes were a weird option, but considering the number of mustangs made with stripes it would seem logical to have someone to handle them. I worked in the car business for many years and never once sold a car for which we couldn't handle all warranty repairs. Call me crazy, many do.
