I had a 1970 Mach I with a genuine 428 SCJ, close-ratio 4-speed with bigger input shaft, 4.30 Detroit Locker, shaker and wing. It was terrifying to corner, with about 60% of its weight on the front wheels. Thank God it had pretty good brakes. It did the most awesome burnouts ever, and it did look and sound very cool. I sold it in 1980 for the princely sum of $1100, $100 more than I paid for it 18 months earlier. Yes, I know what they go for now, so don't remind me.
I had a 69 Mach 1 that I had bought after my wife had forced me to trade my 1993 Mustang in for an Escort wagon. It was a 390 car that was trashed. I parked it and tore it apart and was getting a plan together to rebuild it when the Boss came out. It was no competition. I knew I was going to spend over 40k either way. Sold the Mach 1 and bought the Boss. Those were the toughest 19 years of looking at that car in pieces and not driving a Mustang. I drive the Boss daily to make up for lost time. 2018 may be a good year to add another Mach 1 to the stable.
The "new fascia" and supposed MY2018 timing would be in-line for platform refresh timing that we have seen with recent generations of Mustangs. Or it could just be rumor mill stuff based on that same historical info
