Another track day completed. Ran apex square on sport cup 2’s 305/19’s all around ran at 29psi Cold checked morning of . Ran a best of 1:11.30. I tried TMSBOSS’s suggestion of staying in third but i ran out of rpm on the straights. I really need to get my heel toe down, im still terrible at it. Felt much more comfortable and need to move up to intermediate due to me lapping everyone and getting stuck behind traffic.

edit: this was in sport mode and i definitly felt the nannies activating the harder i pushed. Now i need to figure out how much money it will cost Me to get @Bill Pemberton out here for coaching.

Nice progress!!

I know if Bill is running at the same track as you, he will work for craft spirits. Travel may cost you more. LOL

For years I was the guy talking bad about folks who bought rev matching boxes......Then I used one. With a box like the Auto Blip you can keep your foot solidly on the brake pedal.

@Tonymustang302 - if you know how to change tires, you've got a chance of @Bill Pemberton instructing you. He's worth hefting around a few tires during the day.

And I'm a AutoBlip convert myself as I too struggled with heel-toe.

Finished Performance 1 school at autobahn. I was consistantly fastest in every challenge we had. There were 2 911’s and a huracsn lp4. Getting a real good feel for the car and getting insanely comfortable. I think im learning what Bill says what “tires are greasy” means. Waiting for spots to open in performance 2 School.

pox below are from my GPS june20th track day

Happy 4th Everyone......went to gingermans 4th of July track day. Decided to put the stock rims back on tojse up the sport cup 2tires. Left at 4:30am, with “Track husband” and we arrived.....1/2 way to gingerman from chicago my tire light came on, so i went into status screen and all 4 sensors were not reading. We get to gingerman, i check everything, seems ok. We do drivers meeting, wait for advanced and inter to do their 20min. We go out on track, first 5min is warmup lap, i start learning the line. Get to the straight at green light, punch it, pass the slower moving cars and hit the brakes into turn one left hander and my rear gets insanely squirrly and sloppy......i slow down, get out of the line, slowly putz around track and give everyone their space while telling them to pass. Get to pits and find my right rear is flat. Of course, july 4th.....luckily an on track shop tried plugging it, nope, hole too big. They dont have a tire machine either. Luckily i have an amazing father who was bored at home with my mom and he took one of our empty compamy service vans, went to my house, grabbed my street tires and brought the, 2 hours to me.....almost teared up. Day was done, track husband had a small leak on his oil cooler.....my credit card was declining everywhere.....this was not our weekend. Put street tires on and went home. I’m so happy this didnt turn into a bigger disaster or cause a crash.

i think for the rest of the season i will stay close at autobahn and wait til i get my truck and trailer for further events.

That blows, but as you said, glad it didn't turn into a crash. The frustration can be overbearing sometimes.

well everyone got another set of SC2’s as backups and started doing roll bar. Ripped out interior and went to remove the fender wells when i found what took out my tire at gingerman lodged in the fender well.

Rollbar installed with harness...love how much louder the car sounds inside.

i go back to autobahn saturday for a full track day........as a new member..... yup, joined autobahn country club so i will be doing an offensive amount of track sessions coming up. They have me setup with a coach who i’ll working with a lot. Need to get girlfriend a helmet and all that....so excited.

they suggested i get a set of wet tires/rims to really learn the car When it rains out here in chicago........any suggestions

dropped off a new set of cup 2’s on another set of Apex19x11’s at AAA To get mounted and pickup my stock rears with a new factory cup 2 set because the puncture could not be fixed. This never gets old.

on my way to the track, old vs new

Had a track day today kn the south track. Finished up some paperwork, got a member transponder and had to wait for my C class session. It was excessively hot sitting, but when the wind blew it ws cool. My oil temps proved that with never going over 260F
it was nice with barely anyone on track. They had the Xtreme Xperience going on at The north track. Was not happy with the day as i was only 2 seconds faster than the fastest spec miata record but i have a feeling track addict was not working properly. It kepy jumping from 1:38 to 1;31 and back. I’m ordering an aim solo2 DL but the member transponder is live and way more accurate. I think tires are done for this set.

the 6 point harness really helped keep me planted int he seat especially during breaking. Today was another day learning the lines and pushing my braking, again, tires were getting greasy and overheated.

next up........Bill giving me tire ideas..........

10" rims (maybe even 9.5") with 285 or 275 Continental ExtremeContact Sports or Michelin Pilot 4S.

Sorry, didn't catch that you watched it. While less sticky initially, I would recommend the Hankook RS-4. Cheaper too.

EDIT: And mainly because you drive I to the track. I'm sure there are other 100 or less TW tires that will give you faster tires.

Went to autobahn yesterdayn(8/22/20) to try out the new raybestos st43’s.....after a disastrous warm up lap with steering wheel shaking Like crazy At 120mph i decided to go home. Took the pads and rotors off, dropped them off at my guys to get rotors cut, drove to Northstar Performance to get a set of pagid RS29.
Threw on new rotors and the pagids up front with new new pagids... i noticed right away the pagids cover more than stock and raybestos of the rotor.

went today 8/23/30 and i am braking way later and the pads are amazing. normally im hitting the brakes at marker 4 on the rear straight, consistently today pushing to 2.5. No brake dust, no noise after proper bedding.....if you havent tried them, i highlt recommend it.

next up: full spl with upper full tilt boogie rear adjusable
