Dusted off my Nikon to take the GT500 out for some pictures. Showcasing a couple of recent additions to the GT500.

I know more than a few people are interested in a replica version of the Carbon Fiber Track Pack (CFTP) Wheel. Although we at Signature don’t have plans to replicate that wheel, this was a good opportunity to showcase our Precision Series SV703. This 6-spoke design has been part of our lineup and comes close to how the production CFTP wheel looks. More than a few people have asked if this was that wheel, and even I am surprised as how close they look. These are built in a 20x11.5 square, and tap in around 22-26 lbs depending on how we build them.

My good buddy Thom Demattei has become one of my go-to people for custom magnetic door numbers. He built some for my GT350R and Foxbody, so I also had him dream up something new for the 500. I wanted something that reflected my matching vin and chassis number of #68. End result was door numbers with a different color way for both sides. Super pleased with how they came out. On track days I just tape the leading edge and let the car eat. You can hit him up for a set by email: [email protected]

Lastly Racesng worked with me a bit on developing a new tow hook option for the GT500. As most know the OEM cover for the tow hook is removable, so no need to drill or cut to install one. My car will be geared more toward road-course use, and as such I don’t mind running a tow hook all the time. I cut a hole tight to the diameter of the Racesng shaft and will be using a rubber grommet around it to keep out air getting behind the bumper. Did some custom coloring to the Racesng logo in blue to match the car. Happy with the design of their piece and look forward to the forthcoming production pieces.

I guess this is my build thread, so here is an update. Sitting at 4300 miles and two track days, time for some service.

I have a road map set for my GT500 to be an open track car more than anything. With that is going to likely bring more frequent pad swaps than most with the addition of the Racing Brake Carbon Ceramics that may change, but I like to be prepared. On my GT350 one of the best mods I did for brake servicing were the Caliperfexion Brake Caliper Studs. Engineered by @Tob and brought to market thanks to his his wife Patti. On this occasion I went for the 4340 CT10 to match my brake rotors better. Ford made a slight change to the knuckle compared to the GT350, so be sure you get the GT500 spec ones. These prevent you from having to run that steel bolt in/out of the aluminum knuckle and reduce the chance of a nightmare scenario with cross threading. With the addition of the stud sleeves you can also just slide the caliper out of the way of the rotor and never hang it. If you have not held one of these calipers loaded with pads, I suggest you stretch first.

The stud install is fairly simple and straight forward thanks to Tob's instructions. Get everything nice and clean, set the stud at the right depth, allow the thread locker to some time to set, and finish things up. Took this chance to install the Racing Brake street compound brake pads as well.

Last up was the install of the True Forged Expansion Tank. These are new old stock from his GT350 batch. The fitment on the GT500 is not perfect due to the intercooler lines and the size of the locating tab at the bottom of the tank that interacts with the shroud. However, I got this far and was not going back. Looks better than the OEM piece, and I will get some better pics of it installed later.

The oil change went smooth and no surprises. There are documented threads on that, so no need to dive deep here. Car was back on the road and off to a photo shoot.....
