I'm signed up and ready to go. Dog is covered and I figure what better way to drive the car one last time for 2 weeks + than to go on this beautiful trip.

Sean,

I received notice of your registration today for SATL - 2014. Welcome aboard. Are you driving solo, or do you have a navigator?

As of now, solo. Debating on when/where I want to meet up with you guys. But I'll be in Sacramento for the start.

Earlier today I received notice from the NTPUD (the local utility district that has managed the Kings Beach facility for years and made it available for our use recently) that the State of California Parks Department has re-assumed control of the property. The State has canceled my reservation of the Boat Launch area as they will be using part of it to store construction equipment and materials being used for the local Hwy 28 road improvements. That’s the bad news....

Fortunately, the NTPUD can provide other parking facilities nearby for our event and that’s the good news! We can occupy a parking lot across the highway from the lake, but it doesn’t have rest rooms and I’m concerned about all of the trees located there and the potential for pine cone(s) falling on a car or two. The other option is a nearby recreational complex up the street with views of the lake, rest room facilities, a parking area free of pine cones but with shade available on the perimeter. I think this 2nd option is the way to go! Let me know what you think.

The event is really about spending time with our fellow “Powered by Ford” enthusiasts and enjoying our cars, the cruise from Old Town Sacramento to Tahoe and around the lake and having a tasty BBQ meal. However, if you were set on parking beachside and these alternatives are not acceptable to you, please let me know and I can refund your reservation.

Jim, although I'm not attending this year I think your option 2 looks like a winner. For me the best part has always been the drive from Sacramento to Kings Beach on Lake Tahoe. Having a view of Lake Tahoe is icing on the cake.

Rick,

I plan on a recon this weekend before making a final decision. More to follow next week.

All about the view. IJS.

Sean,

As Rick notes above, the cruise from OTS to Tahoe is the best part of the event in addition to a great BBQ and spending the day with other "Powered by Ford" enthusiasts and the cars. This year, where we park is an afterthought...

Option 2 does sound like the way to go. Regardless, I'm more jazzed about the drive than where we park. 8)

Andy,

Great meeting you and your wife this past Saturday.

The drive to Tahoe is a blast and there's plenty to see all day long!

As of tonight, 50 "Blue Oval" performance vehicles are registered for "Snakes at the Lake" - 2014. There are 10 slots remaining until they are claimed.

And after further consideration, we'll be at the Tahoe Vista boat launch parking facility across from the lake. It has more shade and restrooms are conveniently located nearby at the launch facility.

Man. I'm debating on where I want to meet up. If I go to Sears it's a ETD of 4 am, if I go to Steamers it's 5 am but with traffic you never know. There is still the chance I may not go as work is taking a bit longer to get accomplished than I thought. Gotta have the house in order before I go play on Saturday since I'm leaving so early Sunday. Worst case scenario is just catching up after the departure from Steamers (K street, right?) which shouldn't be too bad even if I leave my place around 5:30 am (big difference over 4 am). And there's some reasonable gas there by Steamers correct? Jim, maybe you could pm your # and I can let you know where I am in the morning so I can better gauge where I'd be catching the group.
