Rumor has it Ford will be unveiling a new performance sub-brand at Detroit, along with the new Fiesta ST, SVT Raptor, the GT350R and possibly the Focus RS. Supposedly, they are looking to rename everything based off an old race car, 999, Ford built 100 years ago. What do you think Ford should call their performance sub-brand?

Personally, Focus 999 seems awkward and clumsy, so not that. I grew up with SVT Contours, Lightnings, and Focuses so I'm partial to that moniker.

edit: Forgot to mention the new GT!

here is the article I saw about this

I voted - SVT

I voted SVO but hey I'm older than you guys. Operations sounds more "works" like than team. ;)

A couple of additional articles on this subject.

Rick,

I agree with your assessment. I had an SVO in the mid-80's and it was way ahead of its time. It ran circles around the same model year GT's. 30 years later, it's still popular on the track.

I think you could argue the seed for the Blue Oval's current EcoBoost craze traces it roots back to the SVO...
