If you got nothing.CaliMR said:Can you make up a list of some amateur essentials? I know you said Americana, but what about wheels, soap, etc? I really know nothing about this stuff ;D
Also and ideas on how to get caked on Hawk Blue off painted aluminum rims? Some people are saying chrome cleaner but others are saying it will kill the paint. It isn't for the Boss.
the basic kit is a great start. you will be ahead of most people car washing wise lol. I still cant believe there are still people washing their cars with......DAWN. only time to do that is if you striping your paint of wax to get it as clean as possible before you clay bar it.CaliMR said:I think I'll start with the basic kit and add the wheel cleaner, for now. Thanks for the links. I have an electric pressure washer I can try on the wheels.
I use dawn all the time...on my wheels. Do you now prefer Adams over Zanio? I thought you put that Zanio $hit on everything?Justin said:the basic kit is a great start. you will be ahead of most people car washing wise lol. I have seen someone I know spend an entire weekend waxing there car only to the following weekend wash it with dawn.....then wonder why the car "isnt shiny anymore"
Dont DAWN the wheels!!! they are painted it will dry the paint out and eventually your paint will start to oxidize and look like matte black. Use a proper wheel cleaner like Eagle one A2Z or similar. It will work better and save your wheels. Put wax on your wheels it keeps the brake dust from not sticking as much. Then after you do that you can just use regular car soap on them (wheel cleaner will decrease the life of the wax coating).5 DOT 0 said:I use dawn all the time...on my wheels. lol you will thank me in the long run if you keep the car for more than 5 years lol5 DOT 0 said:Jeez first you want me to wax my car more than once a year and now I have to wax the wheels too?
you are right wax breaks down around 190 degrees or something. I put...can you guess?.....zaino on my wheels. I can almost hose off all the brake dust with just a garden hose.CaliMR said:Rumor is that wax on wheels will burn off if you track them, I use lard instead because I prefer that smell when they heat up over the wax smell
Got my truck back from the body shop a few days ago, I don't know what wax they used but I can smell it sitting out in the driveway. I need to Dawn and rewax it before the smell drives me nuts.
here would be your min. you would wash with dawn clay rewash with z7 then aio then z6 wipe then z5 then z6 wipeCaliMR said:What zaino products would I need to just do the wheels? Hawk Blue is a nutbuster to get off
maybe try thisCaliMR said:That is too much work for my track wheels ;D
yes it's protectant only though.302BOB said:Justin, Does this quick sealant replace the need for waxing? I'm like 5 DOT 0...I haven't waxed my Boss since I got it last Oct but I wipe it down regularly & it still looks like new.
