Guys,

I just recieved tunes from shaun (Drag, Track, Lopey, Performance):

I'm conceredned about a couple of things, I live in the middle east which has hot summers.

So about the lopey cam tune, my car shakes and smokes alot from the exhaust. The a/f ration also fluctuates between 16.5-18 .

Is that normal lopey idle operation ? ..

Can i daily drive the car everywhere safely or not ?

I just felt that if i let the car idles for a long time it would damage the engines and cause problems.

The other thing is the rpm revs at 8200 .. is that safe for our cars ?

If not what is the safe rpm for daily driving and what is the safe rpm to reach for when drag racing?

Re: Shaun tunes

16.5:1 to 18:1 air fuel ratio is way too lean!!! You will definitely cause damage. 12:1 to 13:1 is a more optimal range that will keep the car safe.

About the revs, I personally would not rev my Boss that high. The weak link seams to be the valve springs and I think you will shorten the life of the motor revving it that high.

Don't use the cam tune its bad for our cars although AED knows how to write the tune safely. I doubt he would send you a tune that had the AF incorrect, when you logged it what was it saying in SCT for Lambda? Are you on the baseline tune? Lambse should be 0.83 (lambda). and trims should be near 0 both of them. Not sure about timing but i'm sure logs will tell you how much total you have, probably would be 26-27 since 28 would be bad in that heat for 93 only tune.

8200 is the rev limit but that's a lot to ask the boss valve springs and rod bolts. the boss engine rolls over at 7700 usually anyway due to cam sizing and head flow so its pointless to shift that high. What part of the middle east?

Im in kuwait, the timing is set to 28 ... i also takked to shaun about the timming , when i did a dyno run the tuner in the shop said that the timing is too much its not safe for our country and the timing is retarded at high rpm so it needs to be reduced to 26 to get better result and better safety.

I talked to shaun about it and sent him the dyno sheets. He said that this tune is fine and the dyno sheet looks normal so he said " leave the tune as it is "

I think this guy knows what he is doin so i will follow his decision

Good idea, I'd follow is advice also I've been on his tunes for 3 yrs beating on my car in summer heat. I'm at 30 degrees but that's e85. What was your lambda commanded at wide open throttle? (lmbse)?

I think from ppls reviews about shaun, hr is knowing what he is doing and is aware right ?

He knows your engine tuning as good as any Ford engineer and probably better.
