Hey guys,
I'm looking at installing some cloth Recaro Pole Position seats in my 2013 Mustang GT. I've done a lot of research on making sure I don't get an airbag light after everything is fully installed, but still have some questions I cannot find answers to. I'm hoping one of you that has installed aftermarket seats with no side airbags in the aftermarket seats can help me out here. Note: I'll be using the stock seatbelts for now as this car is my daily driver and my weekend fun car.
Here's what I understand so far (correct me if I'm wrong): I do not have to disable the seatbelt chime as I'll be using the stock seatbelts. On the driver side, I'll be removing the stock harnesses from the bottom of the stock seats and putting them under my Recaro driver seat. I'll be plugging in a 2 ohm resistor to the yellow airbag plug on the harness to avoid throwing an airbag code. I'll also be plugging in the seatbelt sensor. And the seat position sensor which I will wrap with electrical tape and then leave on the floor (secured with zipties) so it doesn't ground itself to anything.
On the passenger side, I'll do all the same things as I did with the driver side. Additionally, I'll be drilling the rivets out of the OCS module on the stock passenger seat and will be plugging it into the harness under the Recaro passenger seat. Lastly, I will need to remove the bladder from the stock passenger seat and connect it to the harness under the Recaro seat as well. I'll likely be wrapping the seat bladder in between 2 soft plates of something (like a burrito) to put constant pressure on it, so the front passenger airbag will be always engaged. Here's where I cannot find any information:
With removing the seat bladder from the stock passenger seat, where is the bladder located in the stock seat? Do I need to take apart, and pretty much ruin my stock seat, to remove it? Or is it just removed by unscrewing some screws and nuts? Pictures would be greatly appreciated if you have any, for me to visually see where the bladder sits on a stock '13-14 passenger seat.
Also, to my understanding, if I follow all of these steps, I should have no DTCs, warning lights, or any codes and my airbag light should be off with the front airbags fully functioning, correct? Am I missing anything in these steps to ensure no airbag light or thrown codes?
This is my first time doing a mass amount of modifications on a car, including aftermarket seats. Thank you so much for any help!
