There is a long way to go regarding Hydrogen Tech. It still takes more energy to produce the hydrogen than you receive from the finished product. The geeks really need to get to work on this one.
Everytime a Tesla Semi pulls into a Truck Stop to fast charge at 4MW
Tesla Semi Fuel Pump

How much energy does OIL and Gas or Lithium Mining require? The world requires energy, hydrogen is the best carrier that is not going to ever run out or be 'dirty'.
Other than Ford, every other automaker is going to Hydrogen, GM is even developing fixed and mobile EV charging powered by, you guessed it, Hydrogen.
Cummins already had orders for 500 (I think) Hydrogen ICE engines to one large US truck fleet. All of this is happening now, we will see full production 2024-2025.
Pilot is working on infrastructure for their stops. Thing about Hydrogen is it can be made on demand from multiple sources, you could make it at home and store it, then fill up your car or lawnmower.

If you want to go down a efficiency rabbit hole, Florida has the largest Solar Battery in the world. It is on a 40 acre site that has 132 containers of batteries, that will power a whopping 50,000 homes for about 9 hours. This is over 53,000 battery modules. Besides the cost of that, the space and energy required to build the components and the site for a backup for a tiny percentage of homes in a state of 18+Million? Meanwhile I live 14 miles away from a 1.4 Million Gallon liquid Hydrogen Tank. Molecules are and will always be better energy carriers than electrons.

Assuming hydrogen must also be contained and moved to point of use, a good assumption, hydrogen while attractive has a ways to go before it’s a good power source. As long as the conversion is powered by fossil fuels, it’s. Pipe dream.
Battery storage, lol, not a logical process. Waste in, waste in storage and waste in discharging batteries. A 9 hour storage capacity won’t get you through the night, literally. Throw in a storm or two, cloud cover, and you/we still need traditional energy sources to “Get through the Storm” literally.
Im all for clean energy. Besides nuclear, what will work?

I’m a novice to the options Ford is offering their dealers but the goal aside from assuring Ford EVs are sold and serviced properly is the creation of a network of fast charging stations that would help remove “range anxiety “ from the purchase decision. It would appear that unless enough existing dealers sign up to complete a viable network then the screws will tighten and traditional dealers will either submit or loose their franchise. They certainly aren’t putting their eggs in the Electrify American network basket…the Tesla path prevails

And there is this..Switzerland who has had a huge drop in hydro electric power due to a drought, they're phasing out nukes, and of course wind / solar is not producing enough has just shut down electric cars, not sure if it's an outright ban.

The bigger issue is you can't get the greenees to agree to any agenda except a scorched earth full idiot green agenda. We could've had another 20 or 30 hydroelectric plants here but they bitched and protested that it would ruin an insignificant sub species of farting fresh water shrimp or something. They killed the nuclear energy scheme, basically by similar methods, they are doing the same thing with natural gas, which is pretty clean, by protesting pipelines. They are a bunch of spoiled brats, their way does not exist, and they have no interim plan. In 40 years they will be bitching about lithium mines and electrical transmission right of ways for green energy infrastructure. OP Tim is right, Fla has a nassive solar array that an entire housing development runs off BUT... it was designed that way, and it still gas electric backup. It also has the advantage of being about 30 miles inland so hurricanes are not as much of an issue... again by design. Most of the internal transportation is done by electric golf cart. A perfect place for electrical vehicles IF, their grid can handle it... all by design

Southern Power is working on New Nuke tech, really smart people in the DOE, who are finally well funded so lot of clean Fossil work happening. Former employer is supplying 3 H2 ready 1MW packages (Recip Engines) that can run off anything up to 100%H2 in California. They will provide power and heat to operate a waste to H2 site. Exciting time because another contact is retrofitting a coal plant which will use captured carbon to make synthetic fuels for transport while making H2 and storing it in Caverns in Utah. The power will feed California. The tech coming from all of this will reshape how we handle our waste streams.

Like I said, the geeks need to get to work and bring something across the finish line.
wind generation and solar power is NOT the answer. They are too dependent on the weather. They require a backup. If the backup is clean it will displace solar and wind. The sooner the better.
Why we can’t crank up the current tech which works, nuke, can only be answered with a one word response. Politics.

Right now the real money is in H2, the talk about EV everything is just talk for the base, when you talk to the DOE it's a very different conversation. Do not get hung up on what politicians say, look at what is happening on the ground. US is really accelerating development.

I have a call next week with some H2 tech to make our cars shoot out some emission free flames.
