Anyone have this TSB done? 12-1-10 5.0L WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND A/C COMPRES

I had previously posted (on this forum) some clattering/ticking with my 2012 Boss and it's still bothering me to no end. I will be taking my Boss to the dealer soon and will be providing them with video and recordings. However, I came across this posting and noticed there is a Boss part number for the A/C compressor stretchy belt change. So I will be referencing this in my discussions. Anyone have this done?

12-1-10 5.0L WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND A/C COMPRESSOR STRETCHY BELT CONFIGURATION - LIGHT LOWER-END ENGINE KNOCK

Interesting. I noticed this line in the TSB.
Determine the engine built date. Refer to WSM, Section 303-01.
If the engine build date is on or before 4/15/2011, replace the engine front cover. Refer to WSM, Section 303-01.

So I wonder what different in the cover?
Sounds like the noise is related to the AC compressor. Does your ticking get louder with the AC on?

Also the TSB talks about reprogramming the ECU. If you have Trackey, don't let them do any reprogramming without calling Ford Racing first.

I have performed all kinds of different combinations to isolate the "noise". After 8-15 minutes of running, the clattering/tapping begins. Then once up to full operating temperature, the clattering turns more into a squeaking/ticking localized on the passenger side. I cycled the A/C compressor multiple times to try to isloate, however, short of taking the belt off, I cannot say either way. I fully agree with your thoughts on the the ECU reprogram. I do have Trackey and I WILL NOT allow that to happen without them talking to Ford Racing. In fact, I don't even know why they need to reflash.

dude, is it only when you have the system set on fresh air? my car has an insane grinding/rattle from the passenger side dash. i figured out it only happens when on fresh air and at higher speeds. i would wager there is a mechanical door in the cowl on that side that opens to let the fresh air in. the high speed air makes the door vibrate. when it happens i can hit the recirculate button and it goes away.

with the heat around Texas and pollen, i have mine on recirucalte 99.9% of the time so it doesn't bother me often.

Shane, I'm with you on the pollen, recirc, and interior, etc. I have not experienced any interior noise.

However, I'm actually talking about a mechanical clatter/rattle/tapping/ticking. When I take it to the dealer, I intend to provide my video, audio, and also leave it with them to try to replicate. It takes on different forms through time ---- from startup, through fully warmed, up, etc......
