Anyone try one of these?

I seen this at the Carlisle and had to buy one, hadn't had a chance to try it yet but was wondering if anyone else has. Here's the link.

Post up if you did. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

You're literally asking for swirls if you use that. Since you bought it, use it on the glass only or around the house.

From their page:

"If you want to kiss your car we have the lips."

That's just disgusting. And I agree with the others...unless you are clean-room dust free, this will induce swirls. It's not really a faux chamois product, but a very flexible water blade without an edge. Any dust would be dragged across your paint.

Well I tried this out on sunday when I washed my car and it worked like a champ, no swirls or scratches. Tried it on the roof 1st because the black would show everything and dried it just fine. You just let the edge glide over it with out pushing down and the roof was dry as a bone and shined.

One thing that I want to mention that has nothing to do with the above is Eagle one wheel cleaner, I used it to clean my wheels once before and it made my front brakes stick to the disk, I didn't think anything of it until this last time. It literally locked up my right front brake. I was trying to back up and dragged my front wheel, it broke lose but I found it disturbing. I really rinsed them off well when I used it, so it must have started to melt something on the brake pads which are EBC Yellow stuff. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I think I have to shoot those company's an email.

the swirls will happen its not something you will see after one use. this is the same reason I stopped using the absorber years ago. it does nothing to lift any remaining particles left over at all just pulls the dirt along for the ride.

Whether I use microfiber or a chamois I'll end up swirling it anyway after a couple of washes. Sometimes I'll use my leafblower to dry it but this seem like a good alternative. If you know a faster, easier way I'm all ears. I'm always looking to work smarter and not harder.

My daily driver is a big, black SUV and since I am not in the position to pay someone to come to the house to wash it, I do it myself.

1. 2 buckets of car wash soap and wash mits-1 each for the car and the wheels:

2. Then lightly spray a few panels of the car with this and dry with a REAL chamois:

3. blow the nooks and crannies (and TOTALLY dry the wheels and tires) with one of these:

4. touch it up with chamois.

This is the same way the Boss and the spouse's car is washed.

easy, breezy...

fastest swirl free way is a master blaster. You don't touch the paint at all.

I use an older model of this Makita shop blower:

If I were using one of those foam water blades, I'd store it clean in a zip lock bag to try to keep it clean.

I use an electric leaf blower but now I want one of those. you can never have enough power tools and cordless even better.

;D I knew posting that would cost *somebody* some money! I like that it's compact and rubber nozzled.

That does look tempting. A quick search found it for less. Looks like the battery and charger are more than the blower. Shoot I've been wanting a new Makita cordless drill anyway... ;D

I have this to, it works pretty well. I tempted by that Makita and fathers day tomorrow. Hum. As for keeping the foam blade clean, I do keep it in a zip lock bag. Thanks for the input fella's, it's time to go shopping

I'm now considering this combo. This drill kit has the smaller batteries but I think they will be fine for my needs. I'm sure one smaller battery will last long enough to dry a car.

I use this and its cheaper then a cordless leaf blower. it blows harder then my gas leaf blower for a comparison. and it heats the air and its filtered.

Whatever blower you buy, for leaf or car, corded or cordless, you have to thoroughly blow the driveway clean first before washing the car.

Otherwise, all the crap that sits on the driveway will blow up and stick to your freshly washed car as you are blow drying it.

I also picked up one (Sqeegee not blower) at Carlise. Seems to work good. Its for drying the car not washing so if the car is washed well there should not be any debris left on the suface to do any damage.

ding, ding. That's how I was looking at it. Not to say that it couldn't scratch it if something was embedded in it. But, it's really soft and smooth but firm enough to move the water, and it doesn't absorb water.
