Hey TMO enthusiasts!

The mission of this thread is to re-engage with the S197 and S550 community in effort to revitalize our small, yet existing Mustang program. For those whom we have not yet had the pleasure of working with, since 2007, our focus at APEX has been to produce high-performance wheels with extreme durability and unprecedented value for the performance driving community. Combining proven Motorsport design features, vehicle specific optimizations, and advanced Flow Forming Technology, we've created wheels that have taken BMW performance driving enthusiasts by storm. As a grassroots Motorsport oriented company, comprised of a diverse group of auto enthusiasts, we understand that enthusiasts from all corners of the car community seek quality products at a affordable price point, and that these should not be mutually exclusive.

You are in the driver's seat

APEX does not view the car community through a traditional lens. Since inception, this company has worked hand in hand with enthusiasts through many channels, but much of what we have accomplished stems from our unique ability to incorporate forum members into product development. Rather than sitting around a conference table internally brainstorming a list of products that we feel are relevant to a specific community, we have made it our mission to enlist enthusiasts in the decision making process. Tell us where the market is currently missing the mark for you, and how we can employ our core competencies to fill the current pitfalls. The action of putting enthusiasts at the forefront of product development ensures that APEX delivers satisfactory products.

The bigger picture

We guarantee a different customer experience. Car nuts come in all shapes and sizes, and it is imperative to recognize that enthusiasts have different priorities, as well as short and long term goals for their machines. It is not until our product specialists have completed a needs assessment, that we can suggest a valuable and meaningful solution to our customers. Anything less would be a disservice. Manufacturing wheels that compliment the multitude of suspension, brakes, alignment settings and tires specifications instills confidence in our customer interactions.

Show us what you can do!

“All of this sounds great, but show me what you can do.” When track enthusiasts took delivery of their new BMW F8X M3/M4, they quickly realized that the standard 10” rear wheels were not cutting it, regardless of how sticky their 275 tires were. Drivers had to cautiously modulate the throttle out of mid-corner with the threat of upsetting the car, and therefore lap times were not an accurate depiction of what this new powerful platform was capable of. Correspondence poured in from the community, and after some validation from the community, a lightweight EC-7 18x11” ET44 was born. A strong 18" wheel that offered enough brake clearance for the massive OEM BBK, check. Precise and proven width and offset to support a 305 or 315 r-compound or slick without extensive modifications, check!

The following article should give you an insight to our process, and our devotion to the details: APEX Test Fitment - Squeezing a 315 R-Compound onto a stock F8X

We’re gearing up for the new year and excited to announce that our primary focus is to make sure we deliver some kickass products for the Mustang community. Before we get too ahead of ourselves, we wanted to hear from you—the community. The best way that you could help us develop these new wheels would be to take this brief Mustang-specific survey.

I am sure many of you have been previewed to this thread on other Mustang forums, however as a Motorsport oriented company we felt that it was essential to connect with our core customer base, and what better way then through TMO! If this thread is redundant for some of you, my apologies :p

As you may know, we have already kicked off production on our pre-existing EC-7 18x10" ET43 wheel, and a GROUP BUY is live as we speak for those that want track wheels in preparation for the upcoming season. After receiving hundreds of surveys through the other two Mustang forums, we are confident that the next step should be offering something wider for enthusiasts looking for maximum sidewall support. A Group Buy will be launched in the near future to kick off production on a all new EC-7 18x11" wheel. We are still finalizing the details of this new wheel, and our goal is to get production going as soon as possible so that we can get wheels into your hands sometime in late Spring, early Summer.

I understand it may be a bit early to answer the question, but...

Price point?

What will a set cost out the door plus shipping.
18X10.5"
18X11.0"

Trying to budget for this season. I will give up a track weekend for a good set of wheels which hold a 305 or 315 slick and fit over the 15" Brembos.

Details like pricing, weight, and ETA for the new 18x11" wheel is all in the works gents.

Survey results show that the EC-7 and SM-10 wheel designs are the most popular by a long shot, and I attribute that partially to their unique ability to clear almost any BBK you throw at them. While the SM-10 is new and exciting for us, as well as a touch lighter due to the spoke scalloping, the EC-7 is the best candidate for round one of 18x11 production. As previously mentioned, it will compliment the existing line of EC-7 18" Mustang wheels.

The EC-7 has been the go-to wheel for the heavier late-model BMWs which demand extreme strength and ample brake clearance. It was designed for long-term durability without sacrificing performance and fit. More often, faster and heavier cars are being used for racing, track days, and daily driving. Because of this, engineering the EC-7 to handle extreme abuse on the track and street, while keeping the wheel lightweight, was vital. This design makes a lot of sense for the S197 and S550 chassis, however I do see us bolstering the EC-7 line-up with SM-10's down the road.

The EC-7 18x10" ET43 retails for $329 each, which leads me to believe pricing on the new 18x11" should land somewhere just north of that. Keep in mind, early adopters that join the pre-sale Group Buy will have the ability to score these wheels at a discount + free shipping* ;)

I am in the Facebook Group Buy for the 18x10s but will the 18x10.5 and 18 x 11 wheels be available in late spring/early summer you alluded to in an earlier post? If so I would wait for the 10.5" wheels since I already have a capable stock of 18 x 10" wheels. Please clarify.
Thanks
Steve

Greatly appreciate your support, Steve. An 18x11" EC-7 is on deck, and the respective Group Buy will be launched as soon as we can finalize the details with our factory. I understand the time and associated costs with planning out your season, therefore I want to be clear, we do not have an official ETA on the 11" wheel just yet. The 18x10 is an existing tooling, and we are in production as we speak with those units. If you have enough wheels on hand to make it until late spring, early summer, then you are in a good position to wait for the 11's.

I will update the community as soon as we have a more finite ETA on the 11's, but for now I want to make sure those needing wheels for the first couple months of the season jump on the 18x10" Group Buy.

Patiently waiting for the 11's. Sorry if I missed it, but are you thinking two distinct offsets for F&R? Or 4x rear wheels with spacers used for the front?

Great to see you posting on TMO, but there are really few rims out there for the GT350s and hoping we see a set of 19s soon, especially a squared set.
The only ones out there are mega pricey and would love to see a medium priced lightweight wheel for the GTs.
